Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of warpage and bending, etc., of an optical disk even when a standby state is kept up, by holding the disk on a flat surface part of a table by way of unloading after a lapse of a prescribed period of time for the standby state. CONSTITUTION:The optical disk 1 is mounted on a drive part 10, and when the preset prescribed time has elapsed under the standby state of non-performance of a reproducing operation, a loading mechanism is operated by a system control part 40 to change the state into an unloading operation, so that the optical disk 1 is held on the flat surface part of the disk table 30. Afterward, an output signal from a disk detector 20 is detected in its changing for an off-signal so as to complete the unloading operation. By this method, even when the standby state of the reproducing device concerned is continued for a long time, the optical disk 1 is held on the flat surface part, so that the warpage and bending, etc., can never take place, and hence when the device is brought again into the reproducing state, a good reproducing can be performed.
