Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a high-density magnetic recording medium of <=0.1mum which is capable of making ultra-high density recording by providing a thin perpendicularly magnetically anisotropic ferromagnetic crystalline film having the two- phase structure arranged with perpendicularly magnetically anisotropic ferromagnetic metallic phases having a circular section of <=0.1Xm diameter to a spot shape within a nonmagnetic metallic phase to a titled medium. CONSTITUTION:The thin perpendicularly magnetically anisotropic ferromagnetic crystalline film 2 having the two-phase structure arranged with the perpendicularly magnetically anisotropic ferromagnetic metallic phase (alphaF phase) having the circular section to the dot phase within the nonmagnetic metallic phase (alphaA phase) is provided on a substrate 1. The diameter of the alphaF phase is within 0.1mum. Magnetic recording to this high-density magnetic recording medium is executed by attaching a needle-like yoke 4 having about 0.1Xm tip diameter to the tip of an ordinary magnetic head 3 for high density and impressing the perpendicular magnetic field 5 corresponding to information signals to this recording medium by using such head.
