し管5は汚泥返送管8に接続してあつて、沈澱室
9で発生したスカムを汚泥返送管8を通じて沈澱
分離室10に返送するようにしてある。第1図に
おいて11は曝気室、12は放流ポンプ室、13
は消毒室である。ところで従来のスカム除去装置
において、U字状に屈曲した管は水張り検査工程
において、水張り時に水位がスカム吸込口3に到
るまでは浮力を受けて第2図で示すX部分に大き
なモーメントが作用し、また水張り検査に槽内の
水を抜き取つた後はU字状に屈曲した管内に水が
残り、これによつても第2図で示すX部分に大き
なモーメントが作用して破損しやすいものであ
る。したがつて第2図X部分の強度を必要以上に
強くせねばならず、また槽体そのものの変形、破
損の原因となつていた。また水張り検査後にU字
状の管内に残つた水を抜くのに手間がかかるとい
う問題があつた。
