Abstract

PURPOSE:To shorten the compiling time by detecting only those program units that should be translated by a compiler. CONSTITUTION:A source program 10 contains plural program units 11...1N that can be compiled independently of each other and each of these program units consists of plural rows 1111...111P which are set sequentially. Each of said rows contains flags 1121...112P and main bodies 1131...113P respectively. When the program 10 in a file 1 is corrected by an editor 2, the flag set to each of said rows is set in response to said correction. Thus a compiler 3 can translate only the program units where said flags are set when the program 10 is compiled again. As a result, the entire compiling time of the program 10 is shortened.
