In FIG. 2A, 1 is a linear hot cathode, 2 is a vertical scanning electrode formed on an insulating support 3, and is generally formed by vapor depositing indium oxide. Reference numeral 4 denotes a grid electrode for extracting the electron beam, and a light emitting layer 6 made of a fluorescent material is formed on the inner surface of the face plate 5, and a space between the grid electrode 4 and the light emitting layer 6 serves to focus the electron beam in the horizontal direction. Although electrodes for obtaining the same and horizontal deflection electrodes are actually inserted, they are omitted in FIG. 2A. In reality, each electrode is housed in a vacuum envelope, but this is omitted in FIG. 2A.

First, an electron beam generated by heating the linear hot cathode 1 advances to the light emitting layer 6 as an electron beam due to the potential given by the grid electrode 4 and the vertical scanning electrode 2.
The second pulse signal is used to turn on and off the electronic beam so that scanning is performed sequentially from the top to the bottom of the screen.
The voltages are applied as 2a, 2b, 2c, . . . shown in Figure B.

First, an electron beam generated by heating the linear hot cathode 7 advances to the light-emitting layer 12 as an electron beam due to the potential given by the grid electrode 10 and the vertical scanning electrode 8. At this time, the vertical scanning electrodes 8 are connected to pulse signals 8a, 8b, 8c, . . . , which turn the electron beams ON and OFF so that scanning is performed sequentially from the top to the bottom of the screen, as shown in FIG. 1B. It is applied as follows.
