Passenger conveyors have become widely established as indispensable service equipment in buildings, but recently, various demands have become noticeable, especially in terms of the design of handrails. As is well known, the handrail occupies most of the design of a passenger conveyor, and everyone involved recognizes that its design is extremely important as it determines the quality of interior decoration.

Generally, as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, a passenger conveyor includes steps 1 and handrails 2 that are arranged in an endless manner and rotate to convey passengers, as well as rails that support the travel of the steps 1. 3. It is composed of stationary bodies such as a handrail deck 4 that guides the handrail 2, a handrail panel 5, a substantially U-shaped decorative packing 6, an inner deck 7, an outer deck 8, and an exterior plate 9. The balustrade panel 5 and the inner deck 7 are made up of several supports 10.
The outer deck 8 is also fixed to a sturdy main body frame 13 by welding or bolts 12 or the like using several supports 11.

Here, the handrail deck 4, inner deck 7, and outer deck 8 are called design members, and the quality of the overall design is determined by the finished state of these members. It is well known that beautiful decorative materials made of extruded aluminum alloys treated with alumite have been widely used as materials for these decorative parts, but recently, materials such as the one shown in Figure 2 have been widely used. Thin stainless steel sheets are also beginning to be used.

Balustrades made of stainless steel plates have the advantage of being preferred for their unique surface luster, being hard and resistant to scratches and dents, and having excellent corrosion resistance. Therefore, its widespread use is desired. In particular, the completely transparent type shown in the figure (a model that uses transparent glass for the balustrade panel 5) perfectly combines the metallic luster characteristic of stainless steel plates with the transparency of glass plates, and is now positioned as the highest quality balustrade. There is.

However, among the balustrade members made of stainless steel plates, the structure of the outer deck 8 in particular has the following drawbacks, and a solution to these problems is desired.

In other words, stainless steel plate is 3~
Because it is five times more expensive, producing a low-cost passenger conveyor inevitably requires the use of ultra-thin stainless steel sheets, but thin materials are difficult to plastically work, and they require a beautiful surface. It has become extremely difficult to maintain this state for a long time.
In particular, like a passenger conveyor, there are unique streamlines such as a concave curved section (not shown), convex curved sections U1 and U2 , and a terminal curved section T from the lower entrance/exit (not shown) to the upper entrance/exit. It is easy to understand that it is difficult to bend a member if the material is drawn as shown in FIG.

Here, to explain the design defects of the outer deck 8, for example, as shown in FIG.
In the case of fixing it to the support body 11 with the screws 14, although a stainless steel plate is used, the surface gloss is destroyed by the screws 14, resulting in unpopular results. As is clear from FIG. 3, the screws 14 scattered above the support 11 detract from the design sense that emphasizes its beautiful flat surface. Furthermore, if the screw 14 is strongly tightened, it also includes the problem that strain A is generated around the screw 14. This problem is caused by the fact that the outer deck 8 is substantially flat and reflects the light source of the parapet lighting or the ceiling of the building as shown by the arrow Z, which further accentuates the distortion A and makes it extremely unsightly.

On the other hand, when the back surface of the outer deck 8 is bonded to the support 11 with an adhesive S or the like as shown in FIG. 4, a strain B occurs on the upper surface of the support 11. This is especially true when fixing the outer deck 8 to the main body frame 13 at curved sections (such as the U2 section in Figure 1).
This often occurs when the outer deck 8 is forcibly stretched while ignoring differences in curvature caused by manufacturing errors or twisting of the material, and is a unique weakness of thin plate materials. Also, when it is forcibly drawn toward the main body frame 13 in this way, the adhesive S is peeled off and the outer deck 8 is partially pushed upward (arrow Z).
This may cause the problem of the product springing up on the side).

Here, when a welding bolt 15 is joined to the back surface of the outer deck 8 as shown in FIG. I have a similar problem.
In other words, the welded bolts 15 are welded using a thermal welding method generally called stud welding, but the welding heat may deform the outer deck 8 or cause the welding bolts 15 to be welded downward (arrow Q).
Strain C is generated due to the tensile force on the side).

Furthermore, the same problem occurs when the back surface of the outer deck 8 and the support body 11 are directly welded as shown in FIG. That is, the welding heat of the weld bead 17 generates a large thermal strain D, and this type of welding method presents a fatal defect in that it cannot be put to practical use.

As mentioned above, it is not optimal to arrange the screws 14 on the surface of the outer deck 8, which should be the most beautiful part of the parapet member, or to provide a fixing part on the back side by gluing, welding, etc. It is clear that the design of the passenger conveyor has been significantly degraded.

The disadvantage of this conventional method is that the fixing part is provided on the surface of the first outer deck 8 or just behind it, that is, on the part that is most easily visible. In order to avoid the above-mentioned strains A, B, C, and D, it is necessary to use a thick plate with a thickness of about 5 mm, and the resulting increase in cost is a serious problem.

By the way, in order to solve the above problem, there is a method in which fixing devices are welded to both ends of the outer deck that are not visible on the surface (Japanese Patent Publication No. 57-59192).
However, since the outer deck and the fixture are joined by welding, it is necessary to perform welding work and correct welding errors, which requires troublesome work to fix the outer deck.

Furthermore, in the balustrade structure explained in FIGS. 3 to 6, there is a problem as shown in FIG. 7 at the joint portion of the outer deck 8. That is, since the outer deck 8 is made of a thin plate and made of a difficult-to-cut material, a gap g is likely to occur due to assembly errors, and the inside of the passenger conveyor can sometimes be seen through this gap g. This phenomenon is a common problem in handrail members that are divided in the longitudinal direction of passenger conveyors, and in order to improve the design, an appropriate means for covering this gap g is required.

In order to achieve the above object, the present invention folds both widthwise ends of an outer deck in opposite directions to form a folded part along the longitudinal direction, and forms both ends downward in an L-shape to form the folded part. and a positioning part for restricting movement of the fixture along the width direction of the outer deck on at least one side of the folded part of the outer deck. and the fixture is attached to the support.

In FIGS. 8 and 9, the design members such as the handrail deck 4 and the inner deck 7, as well as the step 1 and the handrail 2, can be omitted because they have the same structure as the conventional one, but the present invention In the embodiment, both widthwise ends of the outer deck 18 (a member corresponding to the conventional outer deck 8) are folded back in directions facing each other to form folded portions 18A, 1 along the longitudinal direction.
8B, and within this folded portion, both sides of the fixture 19 are formed in a downward L-shape.
b is engaged and finally fixed to the main body frame 13.

Here, the outer deck 18 is formed by bending a thin stainless steel plate, and has a folded part 18A on the side of the balustrade panel 5.
has a substantially U-shaped cross section with a vertical side portion 18a and a bottom portion 18b, and a folded portion 18 on the side of the exterior plate 9.
B is the vertical side portion 18c and the U-shaped bent portion 1 at its tip.
It is composed of 8d. Furthermore, on the inside of this outer deck 18, downward engaging parts 19a and 19b are formed on both sides along the vertical sides 18a and 18c, and a fixing groove 1 which becomes a mounting part to the support body 21 is formed in the middle part.
Fixtures 19 provided with 9c are appropriately arranged. This fixing groove 19c has a head 20a of the fixing bolt 20.
is accommodated, and the tip of the fixing bolt 20 passes through the support body 21. Now, to explain the combination of the outer deck 18 and the fixture 19, if the width of the outer deck 18 is Y, then the width of the fixture 19 is [Y - (thickness of the outer deck 18 x 2) - minute gap y], and the width of the fixture 19 is substantially smaller than the width inside the outer deck 18.
On the other hand, on the exterior plate 9 side, the engaging part 19b on one side of the fixture 19 is inserted and positioned inside the U-shaped bent part 18d of the folded part 18b. This configuration limits the play between the outer deck 18 and the fixture 19 in the width direction. Note that the gap y is used as an extra space in this engaged state, and is configured to absorb errors in manufacturing or assembling the outer deck 18 and the fixture 19.

In this case, the support 21 and the fixture 19 are arranged at intervals of about 300 to 1000 mm in the longitudinal direction of the joint of the outer deck 18 (as shown in FIG. 11). Furthermore, by providing the fixing device 19 at the joint of the outer deck 18 as shown in FIG. 11, even if a gap g as shown in FIG. 7 occurs in the conventional method, this gap g can be closed with the fixing device 19. Therefore, the interior of the passenger conveyor cannot be seen from either the front surface M or the side surface N.

As explained above, according to the above embodiment, folded portions are formed on both sides of the outer deck 18 in the width direction, and the fixing portion 19 is engaged with the folded portions to be fixed to the support body 21. Welding distortion and discoloration for connecting the fixture 19, as well as distortions that occur when fixing the fixture, are wiped out on the surface of the outer deck, so it is possible to easily obtain the outer deck 18 with excellent design. can.

Incidentally, an increase or decrease in the overall width of the balustrade can be easily dealt with by increasing or decreasing the gap G between the outer deck 18 and the decorative packing 6, as shown in FIG. This adjustment function is extremely effective when the passenger conveyor is located near a wall of a building and the gap between this wall and the outer deck 18 is to be reduced. Furthermore, the present invention can be applied as is to a parapet structure as shown in FIG. 12 in which an outer molding 23 is added for this adjustment and the adjustment amount S as indicated by the arrow R is increased.
