して、従来は、塗布型が主として用いられていた
が、最近は、強磁性金属を真空蒸着法やイオンプ

本発明は上記の目的を達成するために、基体に
強磁性金属薄膜を設け、該強磁性金属薄膜の表面

またはその塩またはそのエステルを有する保護層
を設けることを特徴とする磁気記録媒体を提供す
るものである。

る。保護層は、パルミチン酸やステアリン酸、ベ
ヘン酸等の高級脂肪酸やこれ等の高級脂肪酸のリ
チウム塩、ナトリウム塩、カルシウム塩、マグネ
シウム塩やあるいはこれ等の高級脂肪酸のメチル
エステル、エチルエステル、ブチルエステル等の
物質のアルキル基の水素の一部又は全部を、弗素
や塩素、臭素等のハロゲンにより置換した物質か
らなり、塗布して形成する。

上記本発明の実施例と同じ条件で製造した従来例
とについてスチールライフを測定した。その結
果、本発明の実施例が50分であつたのに対して、
従来例は20分であり、本発明による方が2.5倍に
なつている。
