Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a dye compsn. which can be discriminated under visible light, allows its letters, marks to disappear with time and to be temporarily hided, by mixing an aq. dispersion of a finely divided leuco pigment with a volatile org. solvent soln. of a specified developer. CONSTITUTION:An aq. dispersion of a finely divided leuco pigment (A) having a particle size of 1-10mu, pref. 2-5mu (e.g., 3-diethylamino-7-chlorofluoran) is mixed with a soln. of a developer having a vapor pressure of 20mmHg at 65-160 deg.C or a vapor pressure of 760mmHg at 170-290 deg.C (p-tert-butylphenol) in a volatile org. solvent (e.g., C2H5OH), said developer being used in an amount of 0.5-2 times by weight that of the leuco dye.

Furthermore, the conventional method of temporarily developing color and then decoloring it using leuco dyes is a phenomenon that requires a temperature change, and cannot be colored or decolorized at a constant temperature. Furthermore, if heat is applied to something that has been decolored, it will recolor, and without a change in heat it cannot be erased once it is no longer needed.
