On the other hand, in the radio wave intensity pattern storage circuit 8, radio wave intensity patterns are preset corresponding to broadcast frequencies of a plurality of regions and a plurality of broadcast stations. The broadcast frequencies of the multiple broadcast stations mentioned above are:
For example, in the case of medium waves, frequencies are selected that are not used in other areas, such as the broadcast frequencies of commercial broadcasting in large cities and most NHK basic stations. This is because, as will be explained in detail later, these broadcast frequencies are used as reference broadcast frequencies when determining the reception area. The radio wave intensity pattern preset in the radio wave intensity pattern storage circuit 8 is determined as follows. That is, using the receiver of this embodiment, the strength of received radio waves when receiving a predetermined broadcasting frequency in a predetermined area is checked in advance, and the strength of the received radio waves is determined in each area and It is preset corresponding to each broadcast frequency. Furthermore, the radio wave intensity pattern storage circuit 8 is given regional information from the reception region determination circuit 10 . The frequency information and area information given to the radio wave intensity pattern storage circuit 8 act as address information for specifying a specific frequency and area, respectively.

Although not shown, it includes, for example, a subtraction circuit and the like, and subtracts preset intensity data 8a from received radio wave intensity data 7a. The subtracted output of the comparison circuit 9 is given to the reception area determination circuit 10. Although not shown, the reception area determination circuit 10 includes, for example, a memory circuit, an arithmetic circuit, an address counter, etc., and determines the reception area based on the comparison result provided from the comparison circuit 9. Note that, as described above, the area information 10a is provided to the radio wave intensity pattern storage circuit 8 of the reception area determination circuit 10, but this area information 10a
is updated at a predetermined timing by an address counter (not shown) of the reception area determination circuit 10. Further, when the reception area determination circuit 10 determines the reception area, the reception area determination circuit 10 sends the area determination information 1 to the control circuit 5.
Gives 0b. When the receiver is in the area determination mode, the control circuit 5 provides the reception area determination circuit 10 with a control signal. This control signal acts as an activation signal for the reception area determination circuit 10.

In the frequency-broadcasting station name storage circuit 11, broadcasting station names are preset corresponding to a plurality of reception areas and a plurality of broadcasting frequencies. The plurality of reception areas may be exactly the same as the plurality of reception areas classified in the radio wave intensity pattern storage circuit 8 described above.
However, the plurality of broadcast frequencies in the frequency-broadcast station name storage circuit 11 include, for example, broadcast frequencies of low-power local broadcast stations in addition to the broadcast frequencies that should serve as the reference. This frequency/broadcasting station name storage circuit 11 is connected to the control circuit 5 via an address bus and a data bus.

In operation, when the power is turned on, the control circuit 5
puts the receiver in the area determination mode and provides an activation signal to the reception area determination circuit 10. In response, an address counter (not shown) of the reception area determination circuit 10 is started and provides area information 10a to the radio wave intensity pattern storage circuit 8. Furthermore, the control circuit 5 provides a predetermined setting frequency code to the reception frequency setting circuit 6. This predetermined setting frequency code is the setting code of the broadcasting frequency of the broadcasting station, which is the predetermined standard described in the configuration. This reference broadcast frequency setting code is updated to a different reference broadcast frequency setting code at every predetermined timing. In addition,
The timing of updating the reference broadcasting frequency setting code and the timing of incrementing the address counter (not shown) of the reception area determination circuit 10 are selected in the following relationship. That is, the address counter of the receiving area determination circuit 10 is incremented by +1 each time the reference broadcasting frequency setting code is updated through all predetermined reference broadcasting frequencies.

Frequency information from the reception frequency setting circuit 6 is given to the reception circuit 1 and the radio wave intensity pattern storage circuit 8. Therefore, the receiving frequency of the receiving circuit 1 is set to a predetermined reference broadcasting frequency. The intensity of the radio wave received by the receiving circuit 1 is converted into a digital code by the receiving frequency intensity measuring circuit 7 and is provided to the comparing circuit 9. Further, the intensity pattern corresponding to the area information 10a and the frequency information is read out from the radio wave intensity pattern storage circuit 8 and provided to the comparison circuit 9. The comparator circuit 9 subtracts the preset strength data 8a from the received radio wave strength data 7a, and stores the result in a storage circuit (not shown) of the reception area determination circuit 10. By the way, the update timing of the reference broadcasting frequency from the control circuit 5 and the increment timing of the address counter (not shown) of the reception area determination circuit 10 (that is, the update timing of the area information 10a) are selected to have the above-mentioned relationship. Therefore, as many subtraction results as there are predetermined reference broadcast stations for one region can be obtained.
These multiple subtraction results are accumulated and stored in the storage circuit of the reception area determination circuit 10 as determination information. The above operation cycle is repeated, and the storage circuit of the reception area determination circuit 10 stores determination information corresponding to each of a plurality of predetermined areas. Next, the arithmetic circuit (not shown) of the reception area determination circuit 10 selects the one with the smallest value among the plurality of determination information. Then, the area corresponding to the selected determination information is determined as a receiving area, and the area determination information 10b is provided to the control circuit 5.

In the above-described embodiment, the preset strength data 8a is subtracted from the received radio wave strength data 7a for each predetermined area, and the sum is used as judgment information. The intensity data 8a may be multiplied, and the multiplication results may be accumulated for each region and used as determination information. Furthermore, if the advantage of being able to determine the receiving area very accurately as in the above-mentioned embodiment is not desired, the radio wave intensity pattern storage circuit 8 may be configured to use a single standard corresponding to a plurality of predetermined areas. The intensity pattern of radio waves for broadcast frequencies may be preset. In this case, updating of the reference broadcast frequency setting code in the control circuit 5 will be omitted.
