Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a photosensitive material from jamming and being wasted by taking a exposure test at a light unexposed part of a rolled photosensitive material sheet cut to specific size including an exposed part at the front end part of the photosensitive material. CONSTITUTION:The photosensitive material S is drawn in a sheet shape out of the light shield slit 112 of a cartridge 106 put in a dark box 1 by rollers 114 and 116. Then the sheet S is cut by a cutter unit 120 to the specific length of one frame including the part exposed to light at a leader part, and then conveyed and stopped at an exposure part 178. Then light from an image formation optical system 200 is projected to form an image on the unexposed part and the sheet is conveyed for development and fixation. The exposure condition of the 2nd and succeeding frames is controlled according to the result. Thus, the photosensitive material is cut thin and paper jamming is eliminated, so that the photosensitive material is prevented from being wasted.

An image forming apparatus that performs imagewise exposure on a roll of photosensitive material has the advantage that it can be loaded with a photosensitive material of one size and cut into photosensitive materials of a plurality of sizes. On the other hand, in order to unwind the photosensitive material from the roll, the leading end of the photosensitive material protrudes from the roll, but since loading of the photosensitive material is usually done in a bright room, this protruding part is subject to light fogging. must be discarded. Therefore, conventionally, only the light-fogged portions are cut, or the light-fogged portions are cut to a size for imagewise exposure, and these are discarded through the photosensitive material processing process. However, with the former, clogging occurs frequently because the length is smaller than that of a normal one, and with the latter, unexposed portions are also discarded, which is wasteful.

According to the present invention, the photosensitive material is not cut shorter than a predetermined size and sent to the processing process, and compared to conventional methods, there is less risk of clogging of the photosensitive material sheet, and light fogging of the photosensitive material is prevented. It is possible to obtain a method for processing the leading edge of a photosensitive material that eliminates waste by cutting off and discarding the unreceived portion.
