る。 For example, when cellulose fiber sludge or slurry is processed in a rotating drum filter, it is well known that the capacity of the filter depends on the feed concentration of the pulp fed to the filter. Increasing the concentration from, say, 0.5% to 1.5% almost doubles the filter's capacity. A known method for preconcentrating pulp is the use of a rotating drum preconcentrator placed in front of the filter device. However, such a separate preconcentrator requires dedicated operating equipment and jet water injection equipment. Such preconcentrators occupy a very large space and require significant additional equipment costs.

The method of the invention involves transferring a portion of the liquid contained therein between a supply of the sludge or slurry and the surface of the sludge or slurry in a tank in order to preconcentrate the sludge or slurry. The main feature is removal through the wall where it is located. The apparatus of the present invention is characterized in that the wall located between the sludge or slurry supply section and the surface of the sludge or slurry in the tank is entirely or partially composed of a portion having an opening or a discharge groove.

This filter device has a tank 1 provided with a drum 2 that rotates in the direction of arrow A. This filter device has a slurry supply means 4 provided with a lip portion 5. Such a feeding device with a lip is described in Finnish Patent No. 49330. The filter device further includes means 6 for stripping the pulp web from the drum.
and pulper 7. The lip of the lip portion 5 consists of an inclined screen sheet 17 and a casing portion 18 connected thereto. A discharge pipe (not shown) is drawn out from the casing to guide the liquid out of the casing. On the supply side of the tank 1 of this filter washer, the sloped wall of the tank is made of a screen sheet 8;
A liquid level adjustment tank 9 exists at the bottom thereof. Screen sheets 8 and 17 serve as preconcentrators.
At the bottom of the level tank 9 there is a discharge pipe 11 equipped with a valve 10 for transferring liquid from the level tank 9 of the preconcentrator into a liquid tank (not shown).

The water is then guided through the lip portion 5 to the tank wall 8. This separates the water from the slurry through the holes in the walls 8 and 17, and the thus partially concentrated slurry 14 is sent further to the tank 1 below the filter drum. The water separated in the preconcentrator section can be reused via line 11, for example for diluting the pulp to be fed next. By raising the liquid level 16 of the liquid level adjustment tank 9 above the lower end of the screen sheet 8, the effective area of the screen sheet 8 can be reduced. In this way, the concentration of the pulp sent to the drum filter can be easily adjusted by varying the amount of liquid removed by the preconcentrator. If the capacity of the pre-concentrator is insufficient, a suction device can be provided on the liquid level adjustment tank 9 side, if necessary, and the liquid can be easily sucked into the tank 9 through the screen sheet 8 with this suction device.

That is, since the pressure inside the drum 2 is lower than the pressure outside the drum 2, when the drum rotates, the pulp web 15 from the slurry is collected on the drum surface. This pulp web is peeled off by a peeling means 6 and further sent through a pulper 7 to the next processing step.

The preconcentration device of the present invention can be applied to any filter device having filter means rotating in a tank, such as a disk filter, a pressure filter, a suction filter, or a filter device that uses gravity. The filter of the present invention is suitable for concentrating any mechanical or chemical pulp slurry such as mechanically crushed pulp, pressure crushed pulp, ground pulp (horned pulp), thermo-horned pulp, chemical thermo-horned pulp or chemical pulp; It can be used to concentrate the various fibers and particles present in the diluent, such as inorganic precipitates and waste water, as well as water containing fibers and clay or talc discharged from dryers. In the preconcentration device of the present invention, a screen sheet for preconcentration may be provided on both the lip portion 5 and the tank wall 8, or only on one of them.
