Specifically, for example, the cushion member A of a car seat shown in FIGS. 1 to 3 of the attached drawings has a certain degree of thickness and is mounted in a convex curved shape. This invention relates to a product that must be manufactured with pleats B reserved in advance in its outer fabric. That is, the cushion member A is attached so as to wrap around the upper surface of the shoulder part of the seat S as shown in FIG. A difference in diameter (R 1 , R 2 ) occurs between the top and bottom surfaces. Therefore, when manufacturing the cushion member A in a flat state as shown in FIG. Reserved as On the other hand, the pleats B are integrally sewn or joined to the core material at the peripheral edge B' during molding of the cushion member, but if this joining is not done regularly and properly, the outer fabric pleats B
This results in uneven retention, and when the seat is attached to a seat, tension may appear in some areas, the seat may be uneven, or irregular wrinkles may appear, which significantly impairs the appearance of the seat. Furthermore, if uniform radial wrinkles are not created on the side surfaces of the cushion member, this will have an unfavorable and serious effect on the subsequent finish of the seat.

Conventionally, the formation of the outer fabric folds has been carried out in a separate process prior to molding the cushion member.
In other words, this is a so-called jagged stitch, which involves pleating the outer fabric by forming pleats for a predetermined length at predetermined positions on the outer fabric, and sewing both ends of the pleats with tape or the like. It is something to keep. Thereafter, it is formed into a predetermined shape integrally with the core member, but in reality, this method is extremely complicated and requires skill, and has a high rate of defective products. One of the major reasons for this is the difficulty in forming uniform pleats when pleating outer fabrics and the difficulty in positioning the sewn parts. The outer fabric is evenly lapped so that the pleats conform to the final mounting shape, and both ends of the evenly lapped outer fabric pleats are sewn at a predetermined position for a predetermined length. This is a very difficult task. Another major reason is the difficulty in positioning when joining the pleated outer fabric and the core member. Since the outer fabric has already been pleated and its position and shape have been defined, the setting into the mold, the placement of the core member, and the joining all depend on the outer fabric. A slight deviation in the pattern setting of the outer fabric or a slight variation in the core member can lead to defective cushion members.

This invention was developed in light of the above-mentioned points, and by simultaneously forming the pleats B of the outer fabric and joining them to the core member at the peripheral edge B', it is possible to eliminate the conventional method. The present invention proposes a method and apparatus that can efficiently, accurately, and beautifully form pleats and join peripheral edges all at once without any complicated steps. The details of this invention will be explained below.

The method of the present invention relates to a method of forming predetermined pleats in a flexible outer fabric and joining it integrally with a flexible core member at the peripheral edge thereof. Its feature lies in the fact that it is joined to the body member at the same time. That is, to explain this step by step, (a) a flexible outer fabric is spread out in advance on a template having a predetermined pleat shape, and (b) an adhesive effect is then applied to the peripheral edge of the pleat formation surface. (c) closing and pressing the mold including the template, and (d) dividing the periphery of the pleat forming surface and forming each pleat groove of the pleat mold. It is characterized in that the outer fabric and the core member are clamped by peripheral convex blades provided so as to be divided into almost equal parts, and the adhesive in these parts is impregnated and hardened to join the peripheral parts. .

As shown in the figure, this device includes a template 10 having a predetermined pleat pattern 11 on the upper surface side and having notches 13, 13 that define the periphery of the pleat forming surface, and a template 10 located below the template 10. The blade die 20 is arranged to protrude from the peripheral notches 13, 13 of the template 10 to the upper surface of the template 10 by applying a certain pressure, for example, by interposing springs 25, 25, etc. It becomes more.

The upper surface of the template 10 is configured to have almost the same shape as the surface shape of the cushion member to be manufactured, and the pleat forming surface is provided with predetermined pleat grooves 12, 12, which correspond to the shape of the pleats to be formed. A pleat 11 consisting of 12... is formed. Although it is sufficient that the notches 13 define at least the periphery of the pleat-forming surface, in the embodiment, they are formed along the horizontal line in the figure for convenience of manufacturing.

On the other hand, the blade shape 20 is the pleat shape 11 of the template 10 described above.
Convex blades 21, 2 that divide the unevenness of each pleat groove 12, 12... into almost equal equal parts, or into two in the embodiment.
1, 21... The positional relationship between the flute grooves 12 and the convex blades 21 will be explained in more detail in FIG. That is, although a two-split embodiment is shown in the same figure as the simplest and efficient embodiment, each convex blade 21 is provided in a protruding position at a position corresponding to each peak 12a and each trough 12b of the pleat groove 12. It is preferable to do so. The shape of the convex blade 21 may be a continuous sawtooth shape as shown in FIG. 5, or an intermittent convex shape as shown in FIG. 6. Reference numeral 19 in the figure indicates an upper mold, and 30 indicates a base.

Next, an example of manufacturing a cushion member having pleats using this apparatus will be described. First, the fifth
As shown in the cross-sectional view of the figure, a flexible outer cloth 41 made of cloth or the like is spread on the template 10. In this case, outer cloth 4
1 and the fold grooves 12, 12 of the template 10. Next, a flexible core 42 made of foamed polyurethane or the like coated with an adhesive having an adhesive effect is layered on the periphery of the pleated surface, and if necessary, a backing material 43 such as a gold band is placed on the upper surface. Then, the mold is closed and pressed, and the outer fabric 41 and core member 4 are
Since 2 and 43 are flexible, they are once pressed into the respective pleat grooves of the pleats 11 of the template 10,
It is compressed into a shape that conforms to the mold. On the other hand, a blade mold 20 having convex blades 21, 21, . . . protrudes from the template notch 13 at the peripheral edge position of the pleat forming surface of the product and clamps the peripheral edge. This situation is illustrated in FIG. 7 of the accompanying drawings. Since the adhesive is applied to the periphery of the pleat forming surface, by holding this clamping pressure for a certain period of time, the adhesive in this area will also impregnate and harden in the outer fabric, and will harden on the periphery. will be joined. The most preferred embodiment for this bonding is the case where the core member includes flexible polyurethane foam and the adhesive agent applied thereto is an anhydrous polyurethane foam-generating material, as in the embodiment. In joining in this case, sufficient moisture is introduced to cause the foaming material to undergo a foaming reaction, and by applying a certain amount of heat and pressure to this, the outer fabric and the core member maintain a predetermined shape. to harden and bond. When this anhydrous polyurethane foam material is used, it has the advantage that it is possible to easily and simultaneously form the uneven shape or the peripheral joint on the surface other than the pleat formation surface of the cushion member in the embodiment.

As described above, according to the present invention, since the periphery of the pleat forming surface is clamped and joined by the peripheral convex blades that subdivide the pleat grooves forming the pleats almost equally, the pleats can be joined. It has become possible to join the peripheral edges of the parts in an extremely regular and beautiful manner. At the same time, since the formation of pleats on the outer fabric and the joining of the outer fabric with the pleats formed thereon to the core member can be performed simultaneously and simultaneously using a template, it is possible to The complicated gear-seam sewing process and die setting process are no longer necessary, there is no generation of defective products, and manufacturing efficiency can be greatly improved. From a product perspective, the shape of the entire product including the pleats is stable, the design is uniform, there is no variation, and subsequent finishing and installation processes are made much easier.
