Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a soil improving agent, by firing pulp sludge discharged from paper mills, carbonizing the sludge and selecting granular materials, capable of forming soil into an aggregate structure, promoting the multiplication of VA bacteria root nodule bacteria, nitrifying bacteria, actinomyces, etc., and improving the water holding property, water permeability, etc. CONSTITUTION:A waste liquor discharged from paper mills is treated by a sludge treatment apparatus to give a pulp sludge, which is then charged into an incineration furnace utilizing a rotary kiln and fired at about 900 deg.C to afford a carbonized sludge. The resultant sludge is then treated in a classifier to remove powder and granular materials having about 0.2-2cm grain diameter are selected to provide the aimed soil improving agent. EFFECT:The heat absorption efficiency in soil is excellent and the activation of roots is promoted while absorbing and solubilizing N2 gas or toxic gases generated in the soil in water to accelerate the growth of plants.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Conventionally, a large amount of waste liquid is discharged in a paper mill, and the waste liquid is treated with a sludge treatment device and a clean supernatant liquid is discharged. However, pulp sludge treated with a sludge treatment device is either dumped in a mountainous area or disposed of after being incinerated in an incinerator.

Problems to be Solved by the Invention However, when pulp sludge is dumped in mountainous areas, it tends to cause pollution due to bad odors, and when it is incinerated in an incinerator, it costs a lot of money.

Therefore, the applicant researched and developed a soil conditioner in which pulp sludge was calcined and carbonized and then treated with phosphoric acid, and filed the application as Patent Application No. 141594 in 1988. However, it has been found that carbonized sludge obtained by firing and carbonizing pulp sludge contains about 200 ppm of zinc in the powder, and if used as is, zinc will accumulate in the soil and inhibit the growth of plants. There is a risk that

In order to solve such problems, the present invention is related to the division of patent application No. 141594 filed in 1985, and involves sorting carbonized sludge into granules to remove zinc-containing powder and removing impurities. It is designed to obtain a small amount of soil conditioner.

Effects In the present invention, carbonized sludge obtained by carbonizing pulp sludge is separated into particles using a sorter. In paper mills, some recycled paper is used as raw material, so
The ink that adheres to waste paper contains zinc, which is deposited as an impurity in pulp sludge, and 200p is deposited in the carbonized sludge powder that carbonizes the pulp sludge.
pm, and about 50 ppm remains in the carbonized sludge particles. Therefore, by separating the carbonized sludge into particles, the content of zinc as an impurity is reduced. However, granular carbonized sludge has a pH of 8
Since it is highly alkaline and has a high phosphoric acid absorption rate, the mixing ratio with other soils and compost is limited to about 5%. By mixing this granular carbonized sludge as a soil conditioner in nursery beds, fields, etc., the soil becomes aggregated, promoting the growth of VA mycorrhizal bacteria, nitrifying bacteria, spinach bacteria, etc., and also improves water retention and water permeability. It has a good heat absorption rate in the soil, absorbs nitrogen gas and harmful gases generated in the soil, makes them water soluble, promotes root activation, and promotes plant growth.
This provides the remarkable effects described above.
