There was an inconvenience in that sand containing excrement was scattered outside the breeding box, toilet bowl, etc. Therefore, recently, it has been proposed to use granular clay minerals such as hentonite, which become agglomerated by water absorption, to prevent the above-mentioned scattering17, and to facilitate post-use processing operations. Furthermore, in order to remove bad odors emitted from animal excrement, adsorption type desorbents such as zeolite are used alone or mixed with sand or the like.

According to the research of the present inventor, when an adsorption type deodorizer such as zeolite is mixed with clay minerals such as bentonite, sufficient deodorizing effect cannot be achieved due to leakage of excretory fluid (urine). It has been found that when a water-soluble chemical deodorizing agent is mixed, deodorizing properties can be obtained, but the water retention capacity and agglomeration of clay minerals are reduced. This is because, when a non-neutral aqueous solution is added to clayey minerals, their water retention capacity and agglomeration are weakened. When it drops like that, ″
The urine becomes sticky and mud-like.By the way, urine
In the early stage of excretion, this does not occur because the body is neutral.

Therefore, an object of the present invention, based on the above-mentioned knowledge, is to provide a bedding material that can sufficiently exhibit a deodorizing effect without inhibiting the water-retaining ability and agglomeration of clay minerals.

(2) Structure of the Invention [Means for Solving the Problems] The gist of the means of the present invention for solving the above-mentioned problems and achieving the above-mentioned objects is to provide granular clay minerals with water-insoluble Alternatively, there is provided a bedding material for defecation of domestic animals, which is characterized by being mixed with a solid chemical deodorizer that is hardly water-soluble.

The granular clay mineral that is a component in the present invention includes:
Examples include bentonite and kaolinite, with bentonite being preferred, but not particularly limited. For this purpose, it is preferable to crush the raw clay mineral, sieve it to obtain the required particle size using a container, and use it after drying as appropriate.

As the solid chemical deodorizer (or deodorant, hereinafter simply referred to as a chemical deodorizer), which is another component in the present invention, water-insoluble or poorly water-soluble organic acids and their salts are used. There are many types of these, but
Considering efficacy and economy, fumaric acid (salt) is preferable, and although it is soluble in a large amount of water, it does not dissolve or is difficult to dissolve even when it comes into contact with a small amount of water. This organic acid (salt)
(a) Blending amount (c): 0.02 to 1.5% by weight, (g) < (d): 0.
If it is less than 0.02% by weight, it is not effective, and if it exceeds 1.5% by weight, the effect does not increase even though the amount increases, and moreover, it is an acid (salt). Therefore, water retention and agglomeration of clay minerals are reduced, which is undesirable. By the way, chemical deodorizing agents here refer to substances whose components have the property of suppressing or erasing odors through a chemical reaction when they come into contact with urine or the like.

The present invention requires that at least a clay mineral and a water-insoluble or poorly water-soluble chemical deodorizing agent be included.
Other materials may also be included, such as zeolites. When zeolite is included, it is preferable that the ratio of the particle size of the zeolite to the particle size of the clay mineral is 1:2 to 2:1, and that the former is used in an amount of 3 to 40 weight 2 to the latter. Their particle size is preferably 0.5 to 10 mm.

Bentonite had an average particle size of about 4 mm, and fumaric acid was directly added to it and mixed with stirring to obtain a bedding material. Note that sodium fumarate was also used in place of fumaric acid, but the effect was the same.

(3) Effects of the Invention Because the bedding material of the present invention has the above-mentioned composition, it exhibits sufficient deodorizing effects even when wet with urine, etc., and the deodorizing component, which is an acid (salt), removes odors from the clay due to urine etc. Since it hardly penetrates into minerals, water retention and agglomeration of the minerals do not deteriorate. Further, since only a very small amount of chemical deodorizing agent that can produce a deodorizing effect is contained, it is economically advantageous.
