可変速再生では、正常再生時の再生速度と変速再
生時の再生速度との両再生速度の比に応じて再生
音声信号の全体の周波数帯域が変化する。つまり
早回しでは再生音声周波数が全体として高くな
り、遅く再生する時には逆に全体に低い方に周波
数が変化するようになる。可変範囲が狭い場合で
は了解度がさほど大きく損なわれる事は無く、実
用上問題はないのであるが、最近の家庭用VTR
における可変範囲は、一時停止の状態から正常再
生速度の約1.4倍程度に及び、そのまま出力され
る音声信号の了解度は著しい低下をきたし、実用
上の難点となつている。したがつて可変速再生の
再生音声信号に対し時間軸の圧縮、伸長処理を施
し、再生速度は早いまま、或は遅いままにすると
同時に、再生音声の周波数を正常再生時と同じ帯
域に変換し、すべての変速再生時に良好な了解度
を得る事が考えられている。
