Conventionally, as this type of photographic strobe device, so-called bounce flash photography devices have been widely put into practical use, in which a main body incorporating a light emitting section is rotatable relative to another main body, and the direction of light emission can be varied. Recently, some cameras have been equipped with an auxiliary light-emitting section that rotates the light-emitting section to irradiate the subject with light when performing bounce flash photography.

This device has the effect of preventing uneven light distribution when performing bounce photography by varying the light emitting direction of the light emitting section, but on the other hand, it has a sub-light emitting section located below the main light emitting section. Therefore, in order to prevent red-eye development (a phenomenon in which a person's eyes appear red), it is necessary to maintain a sufficient distance between the secondary light emitting section and the camera lens.
In particular, it has the disadvantage that it must be stretched long in the vertical direction.

In Figures 1 and 2 A and B, 1 consists of a main flash discharge tube 3 that emits light using the luminous energy of a main discharge capacitor (not shown), and has a large light output that is used for bounce or direct radiation. 4 shows a first main body having a main light emitting part 2 that generates light, and 4 is a sub-flash discharge tube 6 that is enabled to emit light when the main light emitting part 2 is used for bounce purposes and generates a small light output that is used only for direct light. This figure shows a second main body which has a sub-light emitting section 5 consisting of a sub-light emitting section 5, etc., and is internally equipped with electrical parts, electrical circuits, etc. necessary for making the discharge tubes 3 and 6 emit light.

As is clear from FIGS. 2A and 2B, this switch 7 moves the first
The on/off control is performed by making the rear plate 10 of the main body 1 in contact with the push button 8 or in a non-contact state. Further, the push button 8 is configured to protrude to the outside of the second body 4 when the first body 1 is in a bounce light emitting state and does not come into contact with the rear plate 10.

As will be described later, when the switch 7 is off, that is, when the push button 8 is pressed and the pair of elastic contact pieces 9 are separated from each other, the sub-light emitting section 5 cannot emit light.
When the switch is on, that is, when the push button 8 protrudes to the outside of the second main body 4 and the pair of elastic contact pieces 9 are in contact with each other, the sub-light emitting section 5 is controlled to be able to emit light. There is.

Further, the first body 1 is connected to a second body 4 and an appropriate rotation mechanism 1 so that it can rotate as shown by the arrow.
Further, in the figure, 12 indicates a mounting leg that is attached to the shoe section of the camera, and 13 indicates an optical panel on the front side of the main light emitting section 2.

In the photographic strobe device of the present invention having the above configuration, when the first main body is rotated to produce bounce light and is brought into the state as shown in FIGS. The light emitter 2 directly illuminates the subject, and the light emitted from the main light emitting section 2 is bounced and illuminates the subject.

On the other hand, when the first main body 1 is rotated downward from the state shown in FIG. 2A and brought into the state shown in FIG.
When the push button 8 is pressed by the rear plate 10 of the main body 1, the pair of elastic contact pieces 9 are separated from each other, and the switch 7 is turned off. In this case, only the light emitted from the main light emitting section 2 is directly irradiated, that is, it is irradiated head-on.
At this time, the sub-light emitting section 5 is completely removed from the first body 1, as is clear from the relationship between the first body 1 and the second body 4 in FIGS. It is covered with and becomes invisible.

Next, using the circuit diagram shown in FIG. 3 to explain how the light emission of the sub light emitting section 5 is controlled by the switch 7, in the case of bounce light emission as shown in FIG. 2A, the switch 7 is closed. Therefore, the trigger circuits 16 and 17 are operated by the ON operation of the synchro contacts, and the main flash discharge tube 3 of the main light emitting section 2 and the sub flash discharge tube 6 of the sub light emitting section 5 are connected to the respective main discharge capacitors 14 and 15. It will emit light with the emission energy of .

On the other hand, in the case of FIG. 2B where bounce light is not generated, the switch 7 is turned off, so only the trigger circuit 16 for causing the main flash discharge tube 3 of the main light emitting section 2 to emit light is operated by closing the synchro contact. Only the main flash discharge tube 3 will emit light.

In addition, since the push button 8 forming a part of the switch 7 protrudes to the outside of the second main body 4 when the above-mentioned bounce light emission is performed, the push button 8 cannot be pressed even during the bounce light emission. Thus, the photographic strobe device according to the present invention can turn off the switch 7, that is, perform bounce photography using only bounce light without causing the sub-light emitting section 5 to emit light.

Further, the switch 7 may be provided in a light emitting circuit that not only controls the operation of the trigger circuit but also applies charging energy of the main discharge capacitor 15 to the auxiliary flash discharge tube 6.

The photographic strobe device of the present invention exposes the sub light emitting part 5 only when the first body 1 having the main light emitting part 2 rotates to emit bounce light, so that the subject can be directly illuminated by the sub light emitting part 5. In the case where the bounce light is not emitted, the sub light emitting section 5 is blocked off by the first main body 1, that is, it is completely covered and its light emitting operation is stopped, so that the entire device is elongated in the vertical direction. In addition to preventing the flash from elongating, the sub-emitting section 5 does not emit light when bounce light is not emitted, so in an auto strobe, the light from the sub-emitting section 5 is reflected and enters the light receiving section, causing an error. This can prevent photometry.

Furthermore, the present invention is provided with a switch that is turned on and off in conjunction with the bounce operation of the first body 1 and that partially protrudes outside the second body 4 during the bounce operation. It is possible to perform bounce photography using only the bounce light from the main light emitting section 2, and it is possible to provide a photographic strobe device with very high practical value.
