Abstract

PURPOSE:To surely detect the fault of a receiver by comparing the difference between the receiving field outputs of two receivers with the difference between the space transmission losses of a TTR antenna and two receiving antennas which are previously obtained. CONSTITUTION:The test radio waves are received by receivers 3 and 5 via receiving antennas 4 and 6 for base station. Then the radio waves of either one of both receivers are supplied to a differential amplifier 7 with those of the other receiver supplied to a selective switch 11 respectively. The working of the amplifier 7 is controlled by a control signal 14 sent from a test transmitter/receiver TTR1. When a test is carried out by the TTR1, the amplifier 7 goes to active and the difference between the receiving field outputs is amplified and supplied to a comparator 8. At the same time, the voltage corresponding previously to the difference between space transmission losses is produced and supplied to the other side of the comparator 8 to be compared with said difference of receiving field outputs. Thus the output of the comparator 8 is inverted in case an extraordinarily big difference is produced between the receiving field outputs of both receivers 3 and 5. Then the fault information 10 is outputted to show a fault of the receiver.

[Problems to be Solved by the Invention] In the conventional space diversity receiver failure detection method described above, the selection switch 11 always automatically switches to the receiver with the larger received electric field output. Even if one receiver is in a faulty state, if the other receiver is normal, a normal demodulated output 13 will be output, so please perform the test with 'TR,]. However, it also had the disadvantage of not being able to detect receiver failure.

[Means for Solving the Problems] The configuration of the present invention is to transmit radio waves emitted from a first antenna connected to a test transceiver to a first receiver connected to a second antenna and a first antenna connected to a test transceiver. The signal is received by a second receiver connected to the third antenna, and the received electric field output of each of the first receiver and the second receiver is detected, and the received signal with the larger received electric field output is selected. In a fault detection method for a space diversity receiver that outputs a demodulated signal using
a differential amplifier for amplifying the difference between the received electric field outputs of the receiver and the second receiver;
and a comparator for comparing an output signal of a reference voltage generator that generates a voltage corresponding to a difference in spatial propagation loss between the antenna and the third antenna. When the first receiver and the second receiver are used for service, the operation of the differential amplifier is stopped, and during testing, the differential amplifier is controlled to operate and the first receiver and the second receiver are operated. It is characterized in that failure detection is performed by comparing the difference in received electric field output between the two receivers and the second receiver with a predetermined setting value.

First, a test radio wave emitted from the TTRI's l-TR central line 2 passes through the base station receiving antennas 4 and 6 and is received by the receivers 3 and 5. One of the received electric field outputs output from the receivers 3 and 5 is sent to a differential amplifier 7;
The signal is input to the selection switch 11 on the other hand. The selection switch 11 constantly compares the input levels of both at a sampling speed of several k 11 z, and automatically switches to the receiver with the larger received electric field output. The demodulator 12 demodulates the received electric field output selected by the selection switch 11 and outputs it as a demodulated output 13.

Therefore, when testing with TTRI, the differential amplifier 7
is in the operating state, the difference in the received electric field output is amplified and input to the comparator 8. On the other hand, a voltage is set in advance to correspond to the difference between the spatial propagation loss between the reference voltage generator and the TTR antenna 2 to the receiving antenna 4, and the spatial propagation loss between the receiving antenna 6 as well. is generated and input to the other side of the comparator 8, where it is compared with the difference in the received electric field output. That is, the difference in spatial propagation loss, T T
R, ] and the base station receiving antenna 4°6 is a fixed-position wireless line, so this is a uniquely determined value, and if there is an abnormally large difference in received electric field output between receiver 3 and receiving fi5. If this occurs, the output of the comparator 8 is inverted, and a fault in the receiver is detected by outputting fault information 10 indicating that one of the receivers is faulty.

On the other hand, if the receivers 3 and 5 are used by a service, they become wireless links with mobile stations that are moving.
Because it is always accompanied by fading, it generates an abnormally large received electric field output difference that is unique to the original space diversity reception system. Sending of fault information can be avoided.
