この発明はクリーニングブレードを改善した複

従来電子複写機には転写後感光体の表面に残留
するトナーをクリーニングするためのクリーニン
グ装置が設けられている。上記クリーニング装置
は例えば感光体の表面と接するウレタンゴム等の
クリーニングブレードを有していて、感光体の回
転に伴い感光体表面の残留トナーを除去するよう
になつており、クリーニングブレードの構造とし
ては第1図に示すものが公知である。すなわち上
記第1図に示すものは感光体aに接するクリーニ
ングブレードbの先端を通る接線上にブレード保
持部材cを取付けたブラケツトdを支承して、カ
ウンタウエイトeによりブレードbを感光体へ圧
接するように構成されている。しかしこの構造の
ものではブレードbの圧接力をカウンタウエイト
eの重量によつて設定する場合、もつとも大きな
トナーの付着力を想定してカウンタウエイトeの
重量を決定しているため、感光体表面の残留トナ
ーが少ないときや、トナーの付着力が小さいとき
には必要以上にブレードbの先端が感光体に圧接
されて、ブレードb先端が早期に摩耗する不具合

ようになつており、この感光体1の周辺部にクリ
ーニング装置2が設置されている。クリーニング
装置2はウレタンゴム等の弾性体よりなるクリー
ニングブレード3を有しており、このクリーニン
グブレード3の先端は斜め上方より上記感光体1
の表面に接していると共に、クリーニングブレー
ド3の基端部はブラケツト4の一端側に固着され
たブレード保持部材5の凹溝5a内に嵌着されて
いる。ブラケツト4はほぼへ字形をなしていて、
屈曲部近傍が支軸6により回動自在に支承されて
いると共に、ブラケツト4の他端側には上記クリ
ーニングブレード3の先端を感光体1の表面に圧

ず常に圧接力Pは変化せず、圧力比が1より大き
くなると摩擦係数μの増加に伴い圧接力Pも増加
する。従つて圧力比を大きいほどクリーニング効
果も向上することが解り、種々の実験の結果圧力
比P/P′がほぼ1.3〜1.5程度がもつともよいとい
うことが判明した。また圧力比が余り大きくなる
とブレード3自体の弾性で先端部に振動が発生す
るが、上記圧力比1.3〜1.5の範囲ではほとんど振
動など発生せず、安定したクリーニング性能が得
られた。さらにウレタンゴムよりなるブレード3
と感光体表面間の摩擦係数は通常0.4〜1.0の範囲

が感光体に圧接されてブレードの先端が早期に摩
耗するなどの不具合が解消できると共に、摩擦力
が増加すると圧接力もこれに応じて増加するの
で、感光体に強固に付着したトナーも確実にクリ
