In recent years, there has been a remarkable increase in the number of small vessels as large leisure vessels have become popular. However, these vessels are not used all the time, but are moored and stored on the coast for long periods depending on the season. The problem in this case is shellfish and algae that grow attached to the bottom of the ship, which not only impede the navigation of the ship but also cause damage to the bottom of the ship. As a countermeasure, efforts have been made to prevent adhesion by periodically applying paint, cleaning the bottom of the ship after it is brought ashore, and performing maintenance to remove and prevent adhesion of shellfish and algae. This was a huge burden on ship owners.

It is generally believed that prevention of adhesion of shellfish and algae is possible by preventing the movement of seawater and blocking light.

This idea was made taking into account the ease of handling the bottom protection cover, and its structure is such that when it covers the bottom of the ship, the ends are large enough to be above the water line, and the corners are folded in. The ship's bottom protective cover is made up of a single flat plate-like light-shielding sheet with a rope attached to its long side in the shape of a ship's bottom.

FIG. 1 shows a plan view of a bottom protection cover A according to this invention, which is obtained by processing a light-shielding vinyl sheet or the like. In other words, it consists of long sides 1 and 2 that are slightly longer than the longitudinal direction of the ship, a front side 3 located on the bow side, and a rear side 4 located on the stern side. The corners are folded parts, and the long sides 1 and 2 are A plurality of ropes 5 and 6 are provided respectively. Reference numeral 7 is a drain hole intended for draining rainwater accumulated between the side of the ship and the protective cover, and is provided at a position above the water line when the bottom of the ship is covered with the protective cover.

Figure 6 (a) and (b) show an example in which the cover is installed from the bow side of the ship through the underside of the bottom of the ship. The bottom protection cover is spread out on the sea surface on the bow side in advance and floated, and then using a rope, it is installed from the bow side to the stern. Then, pull up each side in a direction that covers the bottom of the ship and secure with ropes.

In addition, as is common in all cases, by attaching a weight 8 to the side of the bottom protection cover A that is pulled by the rope, the tip sinks, making it easier to pull the cover with the rope (see Figure 8A). Since this weight 8 is removable, it can be removed once the installation work is completed.

This idea is structured as described above, so
It has the following effects. This will be explained in comparison with the conventional technology.

Due to the nature of their work or the schedule of their operations, ships often do not have a fixed port of return, and may be moored for a considerable length of time (for quite a number of days) at a port of call at their destination or at an anchorage at their destination. In such cases, shellfish and algae may adhere to the bottom of the ship, even for a fairly short period of time, depending on the conditions of the mooring water area or the season of mooring.

Therefore, in such a case, the protective cover needs to be small and lightweight, suitable for moving the ship, and can be moved anywhere on the ship.In this sense, the material of the cover should be plastic, etc. Items that are manufactured in Japan and cannot be carried on board the ship,
Alternatively, a floating dock type that cannot be moved or one in which the protective cover is floated on the water surface and fixed with an anchor etc. are not suitable. This idea allows the use of small and lightweight sheets, so it can be moved on board a ship.

When a ship operates at an unspecified port of call or anchorage, the protective cover must of course be able to be easily attached from either the front, rear, left or right of the ship while the ship is moored under any conditions. No. For example, various situations can be considered, such as mooring in shallow water, or mooring in a situation where the water is dry at low tide, or mooring in water where large waves are always rising near the route of a large ship.
It must be able to be installed easily and reliably in any case, and must not impair its antifouling effect.

In this respect, methods such as floating the protective cover on the water surface and fixing it with anchors, etc. and pulling the ship into the cover naturally have a limit on the length of the anchor rope, and cannot be fixed in extremely deep places. Furthermore, even if the rope is lengthened and fixed, the cover will drift and it will be difficult to introduce the hull into the cover. Many of the ship bottom covers that have been proposed in the past have a method in which the rear part of the cover can be opened and closed and the ship is introduced from there, but in such cases, there are naturally restrictions on the mooring water surface.
For example, it is obvious that installation will be difficult if there is not enough water surface area for installation, such as when installing in an extremely narrow waterway or when there are many other boats at a fishing port.

Therefore, the device based on this invention differs from these devices in that it is possible to apply the protective cover from either the front, back, left or right after the ship is completely moored, and the ship can be attached to the fixed cover. The basic difference is that a cover is installed on a moored ship, unlike one that introduces a ship. In addition, in water areas with waves or triangular waves, as mentioned above, if the cover is floated with a buoy or float, if waves break over the cover, a large amount of seawater or lake water will directly flow into the cover. Although there is a risk that the effectiveness of this method may be reduced, this device covers a position considerably higher than the hull's waterline, and since the cover is fixed to the hull, it is not affected by waves, and this point is also different. It can be said that it has a much higher antifouling effect.

The protective cover of this invention can be made of any light-shielding waterproof sheet as long as it is thin (lightweight) and strong; it can also be a blue vinyl sheet that is often used at construction sites, so it is inexpensive and economical. It is true.

As mentioned above, the cover of this invention was designed and manufactured with the aim of being easy to install, and its shape is a single piece of waterproof sheet that can be folded to wrap around the bottom of the boat to increase its antifouling effect, so when it is not in use it can be uneven. Since it is a single sheet with no dirt, the sheet can be cleaned in a short time by spreading it on a flat surface and using detergent and a dirt brush, and can be easily washed with water.
