Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of biting defects and spot welding defects at the insertion of an electrode rod by providing a cylindrical hollow in the central portion of a whole electrode group consisting of spirally wound electrodes. CONSTITUTION:A positive electrode sheet 4 consisting of manganese dioxide, a negative electrode sheet consisting of lithium and a separator 5 consisting of micro-cellular polypropylene are spirally wound on an auxiliary pin 12 rotated synchronously with a winding core 11 around the center of the core 11. By grouping these electrodes, a whole electrode group provided with a cylindrical hollow 10 in the central portion can be obtained. Thereby, when an electrode rod is inserted in the hollow to spot weld the negative collector 8 to the case, the generation of biting defects and spot welding defects can be prevented to improve the quality of the cell.
