Abstract

PURPOSE: To read an original by any of reflected light and transmitted light by providing a light source above and below an original platen and lighting the light sources selectively.
CONSTITUTION: An original scanning section 5 consisting of a 1st scanner 3 and a 2nd scanner 4 having an original platen 2 in between is provided to a main body 1. The 1st scanner 3 is provided above the platen and consists of a lighting lamp 6 lighting an original 0, a support member 7a and a carriage 7. The 2nd scanner 4 is provided under the platen and consists of a lighting lamp 21 lighting the original 0, a photoelectric transducer 22 receiving the reflected light from the original 0 or the transmitted light from the original 0, an optical system 23 leading the reflected light or the transmitted light from the original 0 to a photoelectric transducer 22 and a carriage 24 supporting the system 23.
