Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain viewing channel information by providing a recognition section comparing and recognizing an output of a detection section detecting reception channel information and an output of a reference channel signal generating section to discriminate the received channel without applying any remolding or addition to a television receiver. CONSTITUTION:A detection section 1 is provided, which detects reception channel information such as synchronization of internal oscillation of a television receiver through the optical detection of raster scanning or high voltage leakage radiation of the television receiver, and a reference channel signal generation section 2 receiving a television channel separately, a synchronizing signal, a video signal or an audio signal is provided, and the recognition section comparing and recognizing the output of the detection section 1 with the output of the reference channel signal generation section 2 is provided. The high-voltage leakage radiation of the television receiver is an electromagnetic wave leaked from the high-voltage generating circuit for driving a cathode-ray tube and synchronizes with the received channel wave while having the horizontal oscillation frequency. The recognition section 3 consists of a comparator and an analog switch, outputs a coincidence signal when the synchronizing signals are coincident and the coincident channel becomes the viewing channel.

In the television audience rating measurement device, the following means are used to determine which channel is being received by the television under viewing conditions. How to insert a converter between the TV receiver and the antenna feeder and view the channels on the converter's tuner; How to operate the tuner with a remote control and view the channels on the remote control; How to output from the channel changeover switch on the TV receiver; One method is to provide a sensor or switch that is externally installed in the switching unit to detect the selected channel. Both methods involve modifying the surroundings or the main body of the television receiver. There is also a method of determining whether local oscillation waves from a television receiver are leaking to the feeder, but the leakage output to the feeder is so weak that it is difficult to verify. Making any modifications or additions to the area surrounding the television receiver was a problem when asking viewers to conduct ratings surveys. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION Therefore, the present invention aims to provide a television channel recognition device that determines the reception channel and obtains viewing channel information without modifying or adding any additions to the television receiver. Examples will be described below with reference to the drawings. A reference channel signal generating section 2 is provided for synchronizing the internal oscillation of the television receiver, etc. by optically detecting the high-pressure leakage radiation of the television receiver and raster scanning. An identification section 3 is provided which compares and identifies the output of the detection section 1 and the output of the reference channel signal generation section 2. High-voltage leakage radiation from television receivers is an electromagnetic wave leaked from the high-voltage generating circuit for driving the cathode ray tube, which has a horizontal oscillation frequency and is synchronized with the reception channel wave. Since it is a high voltage, it leaks around the TV receiver and becomes a weak electromagnetic wave.

To detect this, it is sufficient to amplify it using a pickup coil or a small antenna. Optical detection of raster scanning means that when an optical sensor such as a phototransistor is placed in front of the raster, a signal output synchronized with the raster is obtained. If a part of the raster is sensed, the output will be synchronized with horizontal and vertical pulses. The sensor may be located close to the cathode ray tube or may be detected at the television viewing position. It may be built into the TV remote control 4. The detection unit 1 amplifies and shapes the detected signal and outputs a synchronization pulse or a video signal. In the case of video signals, it is reproduced based on the strength and color of spots during raster scanning. You can watch a separate TV channel, but you can change the channel manually or automatically. The identification section 3 is composed of a comparator and an analog switch that identify whether the outputs of the detection section 1 and the reference channel generation section 2 are identical. When the synchronization matches, a match signal is output. The reference channel is changed until a matching signal is obtained, and a matching channel is found.

The matching channel is the viewing channel. If you are using a remote control, the selected channel on the remote control is the viewing channel, but when you change the TV channel on the TV side, the viewing channel information cannot be obtained. For this reason, the synchronization signal of the channel being viewed is detected as TV viewing channel information and compared with the synchronization signal of a reference channel whose number of channels is known. This takes advantage of the fact that the start of the synchronization signal differs depending on the broadcasting station. A material that generates infrared rays may be provided in front of the raster to generate infrared rays. As a method of adding the sensor to the television receiver, a sensor may be provided close to each channel switch of the channel switching section and the output thereof may be transmitted. Further, when the power switch of the television receiver is turned ON, this signal is outputted by the detection, and this signal is transmitted wirelessly using infrared rays or ultrasonic waves to activate the remote control 4 and change the reception channel of the television by the channel selection signal of the remote control 4. This forces the user to forcibly select a channel using the remote control 4 every time the TV is turned on. As described above, this is an effective invention that can detect television reception channel information from an ordinary television and measure diversified television viewing situations.
