Abstract

PURPOSE:To perfectly prevent the flow-out of ink to the outside and to enhance the detection reliability of an ink end, by grasping an ink bag by a felt-like ink absorber to receive the same in a container and always pressing the ink bag to an ink end detection plate under constant spring pressure. CONSTITUTION:An ink bag 13 is received in the outer wall 1 of a container in the state grasped by an ink absorber 12. The ink absorber 12 is pressed from above by an ink end detection plate 15 through springs 16 and the terminal provided to the end part of the ink end detection plate 15 is brought into contact with a detector 19 to electrically detect an ink end. As the detector 19, a microswitch type one is mainly used. By this constitution, even if the ink bag is broken and ink flows out, the ink is immediately absorbed by the ink absorber surrounding the circumference of the ink bag to be prevented from flowing out to the outside. Since the ink bag is pressed forcibly and uniformly by spring load, the detection reliability of the ink end is enhanced.

In the figure, 81 is the outer wall of the container, and 32 is a partition wall that separates the ink bag from the ink absorber. This partition wall is completely fixed to the outer wall of the container by adhesive, and has sufficient airtightness. 34 is an ink absorber, which is generally made of a felt-like material with good liquid absorbency. This absorber is
It is provided for the purpose of absorbing ink other than that used for printing, for example, surplus ink when filling the head with ink at the start, and the ink is discharged from the recovery pipe 37. 33 is an ink bag, and ink is generally stored in a bag made of a laminated sheet having a structure of several layers. Ink is supplied to the head side from the outlet 36. Reference numeral 35 denotes an ink end detection plate. Due to the weight of this plate, the position of the ink decrease is lowered, and electrical contact is made at 38 via a detection lever 38 to detect the end of ink.

However, this method has several structural and cost disadvantages as described below.

′! If the ink bag is damaged by some kind of impact in J1, the leaked ink will flow out through the outlet and the through hole in the detector part. Some inks are alkaline and can be harmful to the human body, so this is not just a problem of staining the surrounding area, but a very serious problem.

Second, since ink end detection is performed using a set of levers and a partition wall is provided, a large space is required, especially in the height direction, compared to the amount of ink that can be supplied. This was a problem in the design of the printer body, and also caused an increase in price.

Thirdly, ink end detection relies on the weight of the detection plate, so if the ink bag collapses unevenly, it may be detected even though there is enough remaining ink, or conversely, even if the ink runs out, There were cases where it could not be detected.

Fourth, the ink bag has a problem with impact resistance unless it is securely fixed to the container, and the upper ink end detection plate also needs to be firmly adhered to the ink bag. Since the ink bag itself does not have sufficient rigidity, it was technically difficult to stabilize the contact force.

Fifth, the several reasons mentioned above - the presence of partition walls and their adhesion, the adhesion of ink bags, the increased space, etc. all led to an increase in price.

In other words, the ink supply container of the present invention is an ink supply container that supplies ink to a recording device, and the container includes an ink bag for storing ink, an ink absorber for collecting ink, and an ink supply container for detecting the end of ink. The ink absorber includes an end detection device, and is characterized in that the ink absorber is configured to sandwich the ink bag from above and below.

By holding the ink bag between the ink absorbers in this way, even if ink leaks from the bag, it can be absorbed by the absorbers, and no leakage outside the container occurs. Also, there are no partition walls ( This simplifies the structure and improves reliability.Since the ink absorber absorbs ink, the conventional technology no longer requires sealing performance.

Furthermore, since the ink absorber is felt-like and elastic and absorbs shock, it is possible to prevent the ink bag from being damaged by shocks caused by drops or the like.
