Abstract

PURPOSE:To form a Cr layer having an enhanced corrosion preventing effect and a long service life by plating on a Cr plated base material by heating the surface of the base material, setting a vacuum vessel on the surface, evacuating the vessel, feeding a sealing agent under cooling and carrying out Cr plating. CONSTITUTION:A Cr layer 2 formed on a base material 1 by plating has defects such as pinholes and cracks. The surface of the layer 2 is heated with a heater 3 until the temp. of the base material 1 rises. A vacuum vessel 4 is set on the layer 2 and well evacuated. A cooling roll 7 and a sealing agent feeding roll 8 are then moved on the layer 2 through a moving arm and a sealing agent is filled into holes made by cooling. After the layer 2 is pretreated as mentioned above, Cr plating is carried out. A Cr layer free from defects and having a long service life can be formed.

Industrial chrome plating (hereinafter referred to as chrome plating) is
By plating on the surface of a relatively inexpensive steel material, it is possible to change the surface to a material composition with wear resistance. Defects penetrating the base material such as cracks are unavoidable, and depending on the usage environment, the base material may rust and shorten the life of the component.

Therefore, conventional methods for preventing corrosion of chromium plating include applying Cu plating, Ni plating, etc. to the base, thick plating and multilayer plating in which the chromium plating itself is thickened.

However, the method of applying other plating on the base requires special measures due to the cost and stress of chrome plating, and the fact is that thick plating and multilayer plating cannot be said to have a sufficiently stable effect.

To this end, in order to prevent base metal corrosion through pinholes and cracks that are inevitable in chrome plating, the present invention includes a first step of heating the surface until it reaches the base metal, and then vacuuming the heated base metal surface. The second step is vacuuming and cooling the above surface with a cooling roller after vacuuming.
The third step is to apply sealant to the above surface using a sealant supply roller.
It is characterized by a process.

With this structure, defects in the base metal are opened by heating and cooling, air and other gases within the defects are removed, and a sealant is introduced into the defects to increase the anti-corrosion effect and create long-life chrome plating. It is possible to obtain a method for sealing defects in chrome plating that can be applied.
