Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve display quality by providing scanning electrodes whose signal electrodes of the displayed upper half part and the lower half part cross in common so that the border line of the display upper half part and the lower half part comes to be scarcely seen. CONSTITUTION:Scanning electrodes 101 and 109, 102 and 110, 103 and 111, and 104 and 112 are scanned simultaneously, respectively, and at that time, when signal electrodes 1a-8a, 1b-8b are driven by an independent data, respectively, and scanning electrodes 105-108 are scanned, the signal electrodes 1a-8a, 1b-8b are driven by a common data. A border line of the signal electrodes goes to zigzag, and also, a display data being common to the display upper half part and the lower half part exists and a frequency distribution of an applied voltage approaches, therefore, the border line of the signal electrodes of the display upper half part and the lower half part comes to be scarcely seen. In such a way, a matrix display having a high display quality can be executed.

2. Description of the Related Art In recent years, there has been an increasing demand for large-screen, thin display devices in the field of information equipment, centered on comviators, and in the field of video equipment, centered on televisions, video tape recorders, and the like. In order to display a large amount of information with high contrast using a liquid crystal, there is a double matrix in which a matrix electrode is divided into two. The electrode configuration of a double matrix liquid crystal panel in which the number of scanning electrodes n=12 will be described below with reference to the drawings. Figure 2 shows the electrode configuration of a donmatrix liquid crystal panel. 102. 103. −・・・

lb, 2b, 3b, . . . -8b are signal electrodes, and liquid crystal is sealed at the intersection of the scanning electrode and the signal electrode. By dividing the panel into two as shown in Figure 2, scanning electrodes 101 and 107 can be scanned simultaneously, and the scanning electrodes can drive 12 panels at a duty rate of 1/6, allowing high contrast display. . (For example, Japanese Unexamined Patent Publication No. 54-79519) Problems to be Solved by the Invention However, in the above method, the electrode structure is completely divided into two regions as shown in FIG. When driving, the voltage applied to the display pixels in the upper and lower halves of the display has different frequency components depending on the display data.
Due to the characteristic that the amount of transmitted light is affected by the frequency of the applied voltage and the variation in electrode resistance, a difference in brightness occurs between the upper and lower halves of the panel display, giving the appearance of a boundary line and degrading the display quality. In view of the above-mentioned problem, the present invention provides a matrix display panel with high display quality by making the boundary line between the upper and lower display half of the panel difficult to see. .

Means for Solving the Problems In order to solve the above-mentioned problems, the matrix display panel of the present invention is provided with a scanning electrode in which the signal electrodes in the upper half and lower half of the display commonly intersect. .

Effect of the present invention With the above-described configuration, the boundary line between the signal electrodes in the upper and lower halves of the display becomes zigzag, and 1. Since common display data exists in the upper and lower halves of the display, the applied voltage is reduced. Since the frequency distributions become closer, the boundary line between the signal electrodes in the upper and lower halves of the display becomes difficult to see.

As shown in Figure 1, the boundaries of the signal electrodes become zigzag, and since there is common display data in the upper and lower halves of the display, the frequency distribution of the applied voltage becomes closer. The boundary line between the half signal electrodes becomes difficult to see.

In this embodiment, the number of scanning electrodes is 12 and the number of signal electrodes is 16, but this depends on the display capacity and any number may be used. Furthermore, although the number of common cross-scanning electrodes for the signal electrodes in the upper half and the lower half is four, it may be any number as long as it is one or more.

Effects of the Invention As described above, the present invention makes it difficult to see the boundary line between the upper and lower display halves by providing a scanning electrode that commonly intersects the signal electrodes of the upper and lower display halves. Accordingly, display quality can be improved.
