DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to a curtain wall structure, and particularly to a curtain wall structure that provides a new architectural appearance design for buildings.

Conventionally used curtain wall structures have vertical and horizontal members fixed to the building frame, and face material fitting grooves are provided on the upper and lower surfaces of the vertical and horizontal members within the rectangular space formed between the vertical and horizontal members. For example, in a mullion-type curtain wall structure, vertical mullions with grooves for fitting the facing material on both left and right sides are installed on the outside of the frame. They are arranged and fixed in parallel, and horizontal members with face material fitting grooves formed on the upper and lower surfaces are connected and arranged between adjacent mullions, and the face material is fitted into the four circumferential face material fitting grooves formed by both. do.

In such conventional structures, the design of the vertical lines or horizontal lines of the latticework structure was emphasized by the width, shape, color, etc. of the mullions and horizontal members.

However, the above-mentioned exterior design has become boring now that it has been used in many buildings. An alternative new design is to make the mullion invisible from the outside of the building, omit the vertical members, and emphasize the horizontal lines of the cross members only. In this case, the upper and lower edges of the panel are fitted to the horizontal members, and since no vertical members are provided at the horizontal butt portions of the panel, a small gap is provided between the butt side edges of the panel, and Vertical members were placed on the indoor side of the abutting portion with a predetermined gap, and caulking material was filled in the gap between the side edges and the gap between the face member and the vertical member.

However, if such a gap is filled with caulking material, it will flow out into the room, so it is necessary to use a jig or bumping material as shown in the center of FIG. 3 of the present invention. However, it is difficult to use such backup materials depending on the construction site. Further, since caulking has low strength, it does not provide sufficient backside support for the abutting edges of the facings, and therefore cannot prevent the side edges of the facings from being damaged.

The purpose of the present invention is to eliminate the above-mentioned drawbacks of curtain walls without vertical members by emphasizing only the horizontal lines created by the cross members. According to the present invention, a flat mullion installed vertically in the frame, a cross member horizontally suspended parallel to the outdoor surface of the mullion, and a fitting recess on the outdoor surface of the mullion are provided. The vertical frame is fitted and fixed along the outdoor side edge, and the upper and lower edges of the panel are fitted and held in the panel fitting grooves formed on the upper and lower surfaces of the horizontal member, and the position of the outdoor surface of the vertical frame is fixed. Then, the side edges of the panels are placed facing each other with a small gap between them, and a pair of tight members are installed at intervals on the outdoor surface of the vertical frame, and the panels are inserted from the indoor side. The present invention provides a curtain wall structure in which a continuous space formed between the side edges of the facing material and between the tight material is filled with a caulking material.

As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, a plurality of mullions 4 are fixed in a row via fasteners 2 and brackets 3 to the end of a floor slab 1 constituting a part of the frame of a building. A plurality of cross members 5 are supported horizontally on the outdoor surface of the mullion 4 at predetermined intervals vertically. A face material 6 such as glass is fitted between vertically adjacent horizontal members 5, and a sash 7 such as an opening/closing window is attached to form a curtain wall.

As shown in Figures 3 and 4, the above mullion 4
is a flat plate with a rectangular cross section and is the waist part A of the curtain wall.
It is fixed to the building body with the fasteners 2 and brackets 3 mentioned above, and the fasteners 2 and brackets are not used in the opening B. An L-shaped bracket 8 is welded to the mullion 4, and a channel 9 is bolted to it. Furthermore, the cross member 5 is bolted to the outdoor surface of the channel 9. FIG. 4 shows the upper and lower cross members 5 installed in this manner, and C channel-shaped face member fitting grooves 5A are formed on the upper and lower surfaces of the cross members 5, respectively. A cross member cover 10 is attached to the outer surface of the cross member 5 by fitting or using means such as screws.

Reference numeral 13 denotes a vertical frame made of a long extruded material, which has a substantially box-shaped cross section and has a C-channel-shaped fitting recess 13A formed on its surface facing toward the interior of the room, that is, its back surface. The inner width of the recess 13A is approximately equal to the outer width of the mullion 4.
The above recess 13A is fitted onto the outdoor side edge of the mullion 4, and the vertical frame 13 is fixed to the mullion 4 with screws 14.

The above-mentioned panels are designed to be joined at the outdoor surface of the mullion 4, and a gap W is provided between the side edges of the panels 6 facing each other at the joint. From an aesthetic standpoint, it is desirable that this gap W be small.

Caulking material 15 is filled with the vertical frame 13 as a back-up material at the opposite part of the panel 6, but since the waist part A cannot be filled from the indoor side, both sides of the vertical frame 13 on the outdoor side are filled as shown on the left side of FIG. A tight material 16 is fitted into the C channel, and a thiol-based caulking material 15, for example, is filled from the outdoor side of the face material 6. Furthermore, since the work can be done from the indoor side of the opening B, for example, the jig 17 is applied to both sides of the vertical frame 13, and the caulking material 15 is filled between them. In this way, when viewed from the outside, the caulking material 15 with a small width W can be seen between the facings 6, so that the vertical lines are not emphasized.

As shown in FIGS. 3 to 5, a catch pan 18 is provided above the lower cross member 5 with the mullion 4 interposed therebetween.
As clearly shown in FIG. 5, the catch pan 18 has a notch 18A in the center for holding the mullion 4, is formed into a box shape that opens upward, and slopes downwardly toward the front relative to the mullion. and drain port 18B in the front.
Equipped with. As shown in FIG. 4, rainwater and condensed water first fall into the catch pan 18, drip from the drain port 18B, and then are discharged outside through holes formed in the crosspiece 5 and the crosspiece cover 10 as appropriate. Note that the notch portion 18A is welded to the mullion 4.

The caulking material filled between the butt side edges of the panel and between the butt and the vertical frame is surrounded by a pair of tight materials without using a separate jig, so it will not flow out into the room. There's nothing to do. Furthermore, since the abutting side edges of the panel members are supported (backed up) from the indoor side by a pair of high-strength tight members, damage to the side edges can be prevented.
