本発明は上記の自動タイマ7を外力によつて
遅、進制御する作動装置を設ける。この作動装置
は例えば図例のように油圧シリンダ8とし、その
ピストンの左右動をレバーによつて自動タイマ7
を遅、進制御する。この油圧シリンダ8は、その
左右室に油圧ポンプ9と管路接続され、それぞれ
の管路にはコントロールバルブ10a,10bが
設けられている。さらに油圧ポンプ9と排気再循
環装置の開閉弁5とコントロールバルブ13を介
して管路接続され、開閉弁5を油圧作動によつて

リンダ8は自動タイマ7を進ませるようにコント
ロールバルブ10aを開口する。これにより空気
導入と、それに適切な燃料噴射時期が得られ、低
温時の始動が効果的に得られ、且つ着火、自力回
転後の白煙の排出を防止する。エンジン1が暖気
運転に入つた時には、電子制御装置11は開閉弁
5を全開とするべくコントロールバルブ13を制
御し、また、油圧シリンダ8は自動タイマ7を遅
らせるように一方のコントロールバルブ10aを
閉止し、他方のコントロールバルブ10bを開口
する。これにより排気の再循環は正規の全量で循
環され、また燃料噴射時期は、これに見合つた適
切な時期となり、排気ガスの臭気を低減するもの
