Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the detecting accuracy of a developer with simple constitution by arranging a magnetic detection means for detecting the concentration of the developer on a position where the developer returned from a developing roll and moved in the rectangular direction intersects with the detecting means. CONSTITUTION:The developer returned from the developing roll is moved in the direction rectangular to the returning direction by a screw conveyer 20. A magnetic sensor 22 for magnetically detecting the concentration of the developer is arranged on the position intersecting with the moving direction. Thereby, the developer is brought into contact with the sensor 22 from many directions and the detecting accuracy of the developer concentration can be improved with the simple constitution.

(Prior Art) As is well known, a developing device rotates with developer held on the surface of a developing roller, and develops by a voltage difference between a bias voltage supplied to the developing roller and a photoreceptor drum. The latent image is developed by transferring the developer held by the roller onto the latent image formed on the photoreceptor drum.

By the way, this magnetic sensor is provided near the soufflage (scraping member) provided in contact with the developing roller, and is scraped off by the soufflage from the rotating developing roller. The concentration of the developer that has moved and returned to the developer storage section is detected. In such a configuration, the developer contacts the detection surface of the magnetic sensor while flowing in only one direction. For this reason, the developer may not come into contact with the detection surface of the magnetic sensor with sufficient pressure, and the concentration of the developer may not be accurately detected.

FIG. 3 shows the main parts of an image forming apparatus, such as a laser printer apparatus, to which the present invention is applied. The photosensitive drum 10 is rotated in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure, and first, the surface thereof is charged with an electric charge by the charger 11 for charging. Thereafter, the surface of the photoreceptor drum 10 is irradiated with laser light LB generated from a laser beam forming section (not shown), and an electrostatic latent image corresponding to this laser light LB is formed. This electrostatic latent image is developed by V! The developed image is developed by adhering toner by the R holder 12, and the developed image is transferred to the transfer charger 1.

A developing roller 517 that holds a developing agent and rotates is provided inside the developing device 12, and the toner held by the developing roller 17 is transferred to the photoreceptor drum 10 to develop the electrostatic latent image. It has become. A scraper 18 that scrapes off the developer is in contact with the upper portion of the developing roller 17 in the drawing. That is, an elastic member (not shown) is provided at the tip of the scraper 18, and this elastic member is brought into contact with the surface of the developing roller 17. The toner scraped off by the scraper 18 is returned to the developer storage section 19 through the upper surface of the scraper 18. The interior of the housing portion 19 is partitioned by a partition wall 19a to form first and second housing portions 19b and 19C. Screw conveyors 20 and 21 are rotatably provided inside these housing parts 19b and 19C, respectively, and these screw conveyors 20 and 21 are configured to rotate in mutually opposite directions. therefore,
The developer stored in the first and second storage portions 19b and 19c moves in a direction perpendicular to the flow of the developer returned from the developing roller 17 (arrow D), as shown by arrow C in FIG. It is supposed to be done.

On the other hand, the magnetic sensor 22 that detects the concentration of the developer
As shown in the figure, it is provided, for example, at the center in the longitudinal direction of the screw conveyor 20, where the developer transported by the screw conveyor 20 and the developer returned from the developing roller 17 intersect.

Further, as shown in FIG. 2, in the screw conveyor 20, the diameter of the screw 20a located at the center where the magnetic sensor 22 is disposed is smaller than that of the other screws 20b. Therefore, since the developer conveyed by the screw conveyor 20 has a lower conveyance speed at the screw 20a, the developer conveyed by the screw conveyor 20 and the developing roller 17 are separated from each other by the screw 20a. The returned developer can move in more directions than other parts, and the developer is brought into contact with the detection surface 22a of the magnetic sensor 22 under a constant pressure, improving the detected viscosity. .

According to the embodiment described above, the screw conveyor 20.21 moves the developer in a direction perpendicular to the developer returned from the developing roller 17, and the magnetic sensor 22 is disposed at a portion where these developing agents intersect.

Therefore, since the developer contacts the detection surface 22a of the magnetic sensor 22 from multiple directions, the detection surface 22a and the developer can be brought into contact with a constant pressure, and it is possible to improve the detection accuracy by m degrees.

Moreover, since the diameter of the screw L-20a of the portion of the screw conveyor 20 corresponding to the magnetic sensor 22 is made smaller than the diameter of the other screw 20b, the moving speed of the developer is slowed down in this portion, making it even more difficult to detect the magnetic sensor. 22 detection surface 2
This makes it possible to bring the developer into contact with 2a under a constant pressure.
