Wet-type electronic copying machines use a developer to develop the latent image formed on the photoreceptor through a charging and exposure process, so the amount of developer absorbed by the sheet during transfer is limited to A4 size paper. The amount of developing solution reaches several tens to hundreds of mg per sheet, and it is not possible to sufficiently remove the developer using a fixing and drying device equipped with a normal heat source. There is a problem with steam leaking outside the aircraft and having a negative impact on the human body.

In order to solve this problem, a device has been patented that is designed to convey and heat the sheet while bringing it into surface contact with a sealed heating plate in a solvent vapor collection chamber, and to suction and remove the solvent vapor generated from the sheet along with the air. Akira
It is proposed in Publication No. 48-83838. However, since this device heats the sheet from the back side, it takes a long time to evaporate the solvent, and the heating plate must be made longer to achieve sufficient drying, making the fixing and drying device larger. Not only that, but it also has the disadvantage of increasing power consumption.

In order to solve the above-mentioned disadvantages of the conventional apparatus, the present invention evaporates the solvent in a short time by heating directly from the top surface of the sheet, and further increases the evaporation rate by applying heated air from a direction perpendicular to the direction in which the sheet travels. The present invention will be described in detail below with reference to the drawings.

1 to 3 are side, top, and front views of a device constituting an embodiment of the present invention, respectively, with reference numeral 1 showing a heating roller having a heater 1a inside, and 2 showing the heating roller 1. A contact belt for bringing the transfer paper P into close contact; 3 is a pulley that drives this belt 2; 4 is a conveyance roller; and 5 is a pair of seal rollers, which are arranged along the conveyance path of the transfer paper P. It forms the main part of the fixing and drying device.
The feature of the present invention is the heated air flow path provided in the housing 6 that covers the fixing/drying device. An air intake port 6a whose opening degree can be freely adjusted by a shutter 8 is provided above the shutter 7, and is configured to guide outside air taken in from the air intake port 6a along the circumferential surface of the heating roller 1. Reference numeral 9 denotes a paper passing guide bridged between the paper discharge side of the heating roller 1 and the sealing roller 5, and 10 indicates a suction chamber disposed on the paper passing guide 9 to suck gas containing solvent vapor. A gap is formed between the top plate 6b of No. 6 and the side walls 6c, 6c, forming flow paths 11, 12 for heated air.
In the figure, reference numeral 10a is a suction port provided on the bottom of the suction chamber 10, 14 is a suction fan provided in a pipe leading from the suction chamber to a solvent vapor condensation section (not shown), and 6d is a side wall of the housing 6. The sealing material 6c is stretched, and the sealing material 10e fills the gap between the seal roller 5 and the housing 6.

In the embodiment described above, the transfer paper P that has undergone the transfer process is pressed against the contact belt 2 from the back side, while
The surface to which the developing solution is applied is brought into direct contact with the heating roller 1, and the sheet is discharged onto the sheet passing guide 9 after being sufficiently heated. On the other hand, outside air enters the housing 6, which is in a negative pressure state due to the suction action of the suction fan 14, through the air intake port 6a, and as it flows along the heating roller 1, it is heated and the housing is heated. 6
into the flow path 11 formed between the top plate 6b and the suction chamber 10. Furthermore, this air flows down along the flow path 12 formed between the both side walls 6c of the housing 6 and the suction chamber 10 under the influence of the suction action, reaches the paper passing guide 9, and the transfer paper P is Blow onto the transfer paper P from a direction perpendicular to the direction of travel. As a result, the transfer paper P is further heated, and the solvent that is about to evaporate on the transfer paper P is forcibly carried away by the blowing from a direction different from the moving direction of the transfer paper P, and the solvent that has almost evaporated on the transfer paper P is forcibly carried away, resulting in a short evaporation period. Nevertheless, the drying effect of the transfer paper P is effectively achieved.

When we conducted an experiment using a multifunction device and passed A4 size transfer paper with a developer adhesion of 90mg through it, we obtained the following results. In other words, if heated air is applied from the same direction as the transfer paper, the amount of residual solvent will decrease from the original 20 to
In contrast, when heated air was blown in from a direction perpendicular to the direction of transfer paper movement, the amount of residual solvent decreased to less than 2% of the original amount, and the collection rate reached over 96%. . Note that the concentration of solvent vapor in the heated air at this time was 2300 to 2900 ppm.

FIG. 4 shows another embodiment of the present invention, in which heated air is blown from both sides of the transfer paper P toward the center, and a heated air flow path 15 is also provided in the center of the suction chamber 10. By forming a flow from the center to the left and right, heated air is applied equally to the entire surface of the transfer paper P.

Furthermore, if appropriate guide fins are provided in the air flow paths of each of the above-mentioned devices to forcibly guide the blowing direction of the heated air to be perpendicular to the transfer paper moving direction, the solvent vapor wiping effect will be even more effective. It can be done accurately.

As described above, according to the present invention, the surface to which the developer is adhered is brought into direct contact with the heating roller to evaporate the solvent in a short period of time, and the sheet surface is further heated with heated gas to evaporate the solvent vapor. By blowing it off, the sheet can be dried extremely effectively. Moreover, since the direction in which the heated gas is blown is almost perpendicular to the sheet conveyance direction and the relative velocity of the heated gas on the sheet surface is doubled, the solvent vapor wiping effect is ensured even without making the evaporation section particularly long. This makes it possible to downsize the device and reduce the power required for fixing and drying.
