There is a conventional narrow pitch high frequency circuit connector using a flat cable as shown in FIG. Socket A has grounding contact 2A facing signal contact 1A , and plug B that fits into socket A has signal contact 1B .
and a grounding contact 2B . As shown in FIG. 1c, the grounding contact 2B of the plug B is integrated with a bus bar 22B and has an arch-shaped contact 23B arching upward between the two grounding contacts 2B . When the insulators 31 B and 32 B are assembled with the flat cable 4 sandwiched between them as shown in FIG . 41 high frequency mutual interference is prevented. This type of connector uses several signal conductors as grounding conductors in order to prevent mutual interference between adjacent signal conductors. However, in order to further improve the high frequency characteristics, a connector with this level of structure cannot be used, and it is necessary to insert a shielding plate between the signal contacts, but since the pitch is narrow, there is a risk of short circuits. Even if a coating was applied to the surface, it had the drawback of peeling off during use.

Two rows of signal contact insertion grooves 33 are formed in the base insulator 31 in a staggered manner in the longitudinal direction. Further, an S-shaped groove 34 is formed between each pair of insertion grooves so that the two rows of insertion grooves 33 are separated into pairs. The signal contacts 1 are inserted into the insertion grooves 33 provided in two rows in a staggered manner with the contact portions 11 facing each other, and are locked into the base insulator 31 by the projections 14a of the locking portions.

The shielding plate 5 is stamped and formed from a conductive material such as a phosphor bronze plate, and as shown in FIG. 3, it has a terminal 51 extending vertically in the center, and a connecting part 52 extending slightly diagonally on one side, and a shielding part following the terminal 51. Part 5
3 and the other side has a rectangular holding part 5 extending upward.
4. The shielding plate 5 is inserted into the S-shaped groove 34 of the base insulator with the terminal 51 first, and is inserted into the through hole 36 (fourth hole) provided at the bottom of the S-shaped groove.
Terminal 51 is fixed in Figure b). Shielding plate 5
isolates and shields a pair of signal contacts 1 that are diagonally opposed and fixed to the insulator, and also holds and fixes the bus bar 22 in a slit 55 provided in the holding part 54. bus bar 22
A plurality of ground contacts 2 extend from the ground contacts 2 at equal pitches, and the contact portions 21 at the ends form an arc and are located directly above the contact portions 11 of the signal contacts. The cover insulator 32 forms a housing by fitting the arm 38 into the recess 37 of the base insulator 31.

FIG. 4 shows a state in which the signal contact and the ground contact are attached to the insulator together with the shield plate. The signal contact 1 is locked to the base insulator 31 by the locking part 14a, and the leg part 1
3 is fixed through the base insulator 31 and the substrate 6 adjacent thereto. The shielding plate 5 that holds the bus bar 22 with the slit 55 has a holding portion 54.
The upper end of the cover insulator is inserted and fixed into a groove (not shown) provided in the cover insulator. The cover insulator 32 forms an opening 35 together with the base insulator 31, into which a plug (indicated by a two-dot chain line) enters. The contact parts of the plug are the arc-shaped contact parts 1 of the signal contact 1 and the ground contact 2.
The tips of 1 and 21 are inserted into the "induction" and the contact parts fit together.

As mentioned above, the flat cable shield connector of the present invention has signal contacts facing each other and arranged in two staggered rows, so the pitch between the rows is 2.
Furthermore, since a shielding plate is arranged for each diagonally opposed signal contact, it has an excellent shielding effect, and there is no short circuit between the shielding plate and the signal contact, which is extremely advantageous.
