a cover resembling a wire wheel, having a rim portion fitted with a retaining device for attachment to a wheel of a vehicle, said rim portion comprising at least one continuous nested substantially V-shaped member; a plurality of apertures passing through the portion for receiving the ends; the V-shaped member having an outwardly conically shaped end; firmly positioning said V-shaped member in intimate contact with an annular surface defining an aperture and limiting the travel of said member through an aperture in said rim portion; a body portion on one side, the body portion having at least one annular camming surface in the region of the apex of each of the substantially V-shaped members supported by the same surface; and a device is attached to the main body portion for capturing each of the V-shaped members and pressing against the camming surface to force each of the members toward the rim portion.
