、自動車が雪道を走行する等のばあいにおいて確実な滑
り防止作用を発揮するのはもとより、クロスチエンと路
面とが接触した状態で自動車が走行するばあいにあって
も、路面を損傷することが少ないとともに騒音や振動も
小さくその上耐久性にも優れる自動車用のタイヤチエン

ると各クロスリンクは急速に摩耗し、短時間のうちにク
ロスチエンが切断されてしまう事態を招いていた。加え
て、クロスリンク下撃的に路面と接触することから、自
動車走行中の騒音や振動が大吉<、又路面を!貝傷する
という問題もあった。かかる事態は、道路の積雪状態に
応じてタイヤチエンをこまめに着脱すれば解消できるこ
とではあるが、雲量の多い支線道路からほとんど雪のな
い幹線道路に入り、その後再び雪の多い支線道路に抜け
るといったことはよくあることであり、このようなばあ
いにタイヤチエンの着脱を繰り返すことは、その装着の
度にジヤツキアップや車の移動等の面倒な操作を要する
とともに装着のために安全な場所を確保する必要も生ず

全体を略均−にゴム質素材7で被覆してなり、環状芯材
6の捩れがクロスリンク5の捩れとして略忠実にあられ
れている。なお環状芯材6を被覆するゴム質素材7とし
ては、例えはタイヤのトレンドゴムと同質の柔軟性、耐
閂耗性に富むものを採用するのがよい。このように形成
されたクロスリンク5.5は、相互が円滑に動きうる状
態で順次連結され、前記クロスチエン3が構成されてい
