Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform collation of fingerprints just with a position matching process carried out between a pattern of collected fingerprints and a pattern of registered fingerprints having the same mounting conditions, by providing a guide at least at the both end parts and an edge part of a subject to be checked on a reflecting surface of a prism. CONSTITUTION:A tunnel-shaped guide 3 having a closed tip part is provided on a mounting face of a reflecting surface 12. Thus it is possible to prevent the rotation caused in the long finger direction on the mounting face or the rotation of a finger 2 caused with the long finger direction defined as an axis. Therefore an inputted fingerprint patterns has no rotation nor strain. As a result, the complicated position matching processes to be carried out prior to the subsequent collating jobs can be decreased.

Systems that use fingerprints to identify individuals have extremely high reliability due to the characteristics of fingerprints, which are ``unique for all people'' and unchangeable throughout life. Various devices have been proposed for verifying identity with registered fingerprints.

FIG. 4(A) is a plan view showing the arrangement relationship between the prism 1 in the image input device and the finger 2 which is the object to be inspected, and FIG. This is a side view that also shows the optical path. Prism 1 is light incident surface 1
It has three independent surfaces: a reflective surface 12 which is a mounting surface on which fingers 1 and fingers 2 are placed, and a derivation surface 13 which derives reflected light from this reflective surface.

However, in this case, if no restrictions are applied when placing the finger 2, it may rotate in the direction of the long finger on the placement surface, as shown in Figure 5 (A), or as shown in Figure 6 (A). As shown in FIG. Comparison with Figure (C) has the disadvantage that a complicated alignment process between patterns is first required.

It is an object of the present invention to eliminate the above-mentioned drawbacks, and to perform a matching process by simply aligning a collected pattern pattern and a registered pattern pattern under the same placement conditions when placing a finger multiple times. The object of the present invention is to provide an image input device that enables image input.

The image input device according to the present invention has a prism to be collated on the reflecting surface of a prism that independently has three surfaces: a light incident surface, a reflecting surface that causes reflection of the light that has passed through the incident surface, and a deriving surface that derives the reflected light. In an image input device in which an object to be inspected having a pattern is placed and a pattern to be compared is input using light from the deriving surface, at least both sides and edges of the object to be inspected are placed on the reflective surface of the prism. It is configured by providing a guide along the section.

FIGS. 1(A) and (B) are a plan view and a side view of one embodiment of the present invention, and FIGS. 1(A) and (B) are FIGS.
A> and (B), and the same parts are indicated by the same reference numerals in both figures. In this embodiment, a tunnel-shaped guide 3 with a closed tip is provided on a mounting surface which is a reflective surface 12. Therefore, in this example, rotation of the long finger on the reflective surface as shown in FIG. 5 (A), or rotation of the finger around the long finger direction as shown in FIG. By doing this, the input fingerprint pattern will be a pattern that does not include rotation or distortion as shown in Figures 5 (C) and 6 (C), and will be used for subsequent verification. It is possible to reduce the complicated positioning process performed prior to processing.

FIGS. 2A and 2B are a plan view and a side view of another embodiment of the present invention, and FIGS.
This corresponds to figures (A) and (B). In this embodiment, a guard 4, which is a thick plate with finger-shaped notches, is provided on the placement surface to fix the finger in the long direction.

Figures 3 (A> and (B)) are a plan view and a side view of yet another embodiment of the present invention, and (A> and (B) in these figures also correspond to Figures 4 (A) and (B)). In this embodiment, a guide 5 for the tip of the finger is provided on the placement surface, and a wall-shaped guide 6 is provided on the side surface of the finger to fix the finger in the direction of the long finger.
