Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent laser beams from being projected from a device side optical connector to the external and to prevent the invasion of foreign substances into the device side optical connector by pivoting a pair of shielding plates to be opened only to the inside on the inside of an aperture end part of a front housing through elastic members. CONSTITUTION:When an opposite side optical connector B is moved and an optical connector body 8 is abutted upon the shielding plates 4a, 4b of the device side connector A, the shielding plates 4a, 4b are expanded into the inside through a coil spring 5. When the connector body 8 is pushed into the front housing 1 furthermore, the shielding plates 4a, 4b are more widely expanded while twisting the coil part 5a of the coil spring 5. At the time of pushing the optical connector 8 furthermore, the shielding plates 4a, 4b are completely opened and the optical connector body 8 is fitted with a terminal 3. Since the arms 5b, 5c of the coil spring 5 are fixed, the optical connector body 8 is not expanded to the front side of the front housing 1 at the time of disengaging the body 8 from the terminal 3. Thereby, the invasion of foreign substances such as dust into the device side optical connector can be suppressed.
