【発明の詳細な説明】
[産業上の利用分野]
本発明は、固体電解質燃料電池発電プラントの運転方法
の改良に関する。

[従来の技術]
周知の如く、固体電解質燃料電池を用いる発電システム
は、■熱効率が50〜60%と従来発電システムと比較
して高い、■環境適合性が良好である、■石炭ガス化ガ
スを燃料として用いる事ができる等多くの利点があり、
特に米国において開発が進められている。しかしながら
、現在商用化されたものはなく、またその運転法につい
ても十分検討されていない。

して高い、■環境適合性が良好である、■石炭ガス化ガ
スを燃料として用いる事ができる等多くの利点があり、
特に米国において開発が進められている。しかしながら
、現在商用化されたものはなく、またその運転法につい
ても十分検討されていない。
ところで、前記固体電解質燃料電池(以下、5OFGと
呼ぶ)は、例えば安定化ジルコニウアの基体上にニッケ
ルジルコニアサーメットの燃料極、安定化ジルコニアの
電解質、ランタン系複合酸化物の空気極などを薄膜とし
て形成付着させて製作するのが一般的である。

[発明が解決しようとする問題点]
しかしながら、従来技術によれば、前記5OFCの本体
は勿論長期運転に耐えるように製作されてが、全てセラ
ミックスである。従って、品質のばらつき、誤動作、苛
酷な運用(軌道・停止回数、負荷変動速度など)などの
原因で、あるセルにクラックが生じ、燃料と空気とが一
部混合してしまう恐れがある。このことは、当該セルの
出力低下を招くのみならず、温度の局所的上昇が他のセ
ルにも悪影響を及ぼし、ついにはモジュール(通常数百
〜数万本で構成される発電プラントユニット)中の全て
のセルを破損させてしまう恐れがある。従って、モジュ
ール中のある程度のクラック検出することは、5oFC
発電プラント上極めて重要である。

ミックスである。従って、品質のばらつき、誤動作、苛
酷な運用(軌道・停止回数、負荷変動速度など)などの
原因で、あるセルにクラックが生じ、燃料と空気とが一

出力低下を招くのみならず、温度の局所的上昇が他のセ
ルにも悪影響を及ぼし、ついにはモジュール(通常数百
〜数万本で構成される発電プラントユニット)中の全て
のセルを破損させてしまう恐れがある。従って、モジュ
ール中のある程度のクラック検出することは、5oFC
発電プラント上極めて重要である。
本発明は上記事情に鑑みてなされたもので、モジュール
中の所定のセルの状況を経時的に把握し、モジュールの
破損を事前に防止し得る安全性の高い固体電解質燃料電
池発電プラントの運転方法を提供することを目的とする
。

[問題点を解決するための手段]
本発明では、セルにクラックが生じた場合、燃料(CO
2,82などの炭化水素リフォーミングガス)側のガス
及び酸化材(通常は空気)側のガスの相互流通があるこ
とに着目し、ある成分の濃度を検出することにより間接
的にクラックの発生を探査する。ここで、成分として本
発明の目的に最も有効なものは、空気側から燃料側への
もれ込みについてはHeである。空気中にはHeが約5
ppm存在するが、燃料ガス中には通常低い濃度のHe
Lか含まれないから燃料ガス中のHe11度の経時変化
を分析してモニタしておけば、空気側から燃料側へのガ
スの漏れ込みは検知できる。特に、現状の高性能の分析
計(例えば質量分析計)を用いれば容易である。

相当量(堆積比5〜50%)が存在する。従って、燃料
側から空気側へのもれ込みがあれば、CO2濃度変化の
モニタリングにより検出可能である。なお、H2、CO
2の代りにこれに類するAr、H2Oなどを用いても有
効である。また、He、Arガスなどを外部よりトレー
サとして空気側あるいは燃料側に添加し、その濃度変化
を反対のガス側で検出する方法でも同様の効果を得るこ
とができる。

[実施例]
以下、本発明の一実施例を図を参照して説明する。
図は本発明に係る固体電解質燃料電池発電プラントの説
明図である。図中の1は5oFC発電モジュールであり
、数百本〜数万本の円筒形の5oFC単位セル2・・・
によって構成されている。

前記モジュール1の上下には空気(酸化剤)供給ライン
3a、空気(酸化剤)排出ライン3bが分岐して連結さ
れ、更に燃料供給ライン4a、燃料排出ライン4bが分
岐して連結されている。前記空気(酸化剤)の供給側及
び排出側の夫々のガスサンプリング点5a、5bには、
ガス成分濃度分析計6が接続されている。また、燃料の
供給側及び排出側の夫々のガスサンプリング点7a、7
bには、ガス成分濃度分析計8が接続されている。
3a、空気(酸化剤)排出ライン3bが分岐して連結さ
れ、更に燃料供給ライン4a、燃料排出ライン4bが分
岐して連結されている。前記空気(酸化剤)の供給側及
び排出側の夫々のガスサンプリング点5a、5bには、
ガス成分濃度分析計6が接続されている。また、燃料の
供給側及び排出側の夫々のガスサンプリング点7a、7
bには、ガス成分濃度分析計8が接続されている。
本実施例では、溶射法にて作製した5OFCセル、Co
(60%)と82 (40%)との混合ガス、及び空
気を用いた模擬試験を実施した。但し、前記単位セル2
は60本とした。また、ガス成分濃度分析計8は、CO
2については赤外線方式、Heについては質量分析方式
のものを用いた。しかるに、故意に急速軌道(常1−1
030’C)を繰返した所、3回目で燃料ガス側へHe
m度の上昇が認められた。そこで、解放点検を実施した
が、60本の単位セル2のうち1カ所に微少なりラック
が入ったもの、3カ所に微少なりランクを生じたもの、
各1本が認められた。このように、本実施例では、5O
FCモジユールの運転監視に極めて有効であることが認
識された。
(60%)と82 (40%)との混合ガス、及び空
気を用いた模擬試験を実施した。但し、前記単位セル2
は60本とした。また、ガス成分濃度分析計8は、CO
2については赤外線方式、Heについては質量分析方式
のものを用いた。しかるに、故意に急速軌道(常1−1
030’C)を繰返した所、3回目で燃料ガス側へHe
m度の上昇が認められた。そこで、解放点検を実施した
が、60本の単位セル2のうち1カ所に微少なりラック
が入ったもの、3カ所に微少なりランクを生じたもの、
各1本が認められた。このように、本実施例では、5O
FCモジユールの運転監視に極めて有効であることが認
識された。
[発明の効果]
以上詳述した如く本発明によれば、モジュール中の所定
のセルの状況を経時的に把握し、モジュールの破損を事
前に防止し得る安全性の高い固体電解質燃料電池発電プ
ラントの運転方法を提供できる。

Claims (1)
- 固体電解質燃料電池の酸化剤、燃料ガスの少くとも一方
の入口及び出口、又は出口において、Ar、He、CO
_2及びH_2Oのうち少くとも一種以上の一部又は全
ての濃度をモニタリングし、計測濃度が設定値を越えた
ことを検知した場合、該当する固体電解質モジュールの
運転を停止することを特徴とする固体電解質燃料電池発
電プラントの運転方法。
