従来、定着温度制御装置は(1)加熱定着装置にお
ける2つの発熱体と露光ランプとが同一電源に接
続されておりコピー時一方の発熱体には常時電流

み電流を流すものが実開昭47−25040号により知
られている。又(2)加熱定着装置において2個のヒ
ータのうち温度変化の早い方のヒータの温度を検
知して両者のヒータを制御し露光ランプ点灯時は
温度変化の早い方のヒータをオフにし露光ランプ
消灯時は温度変化の早い方のヒータをオンにする
ものが実公昭51−18774号で提案されている。し
かし、前者(1)にあつては一方の発熱体に常時電流
を流すので、ローラ温度を制御できず、そのバラ
ンスをとる為には電力が制限され電力の有効利用
にならない。その為立上り時間が遅くなるという
欠点がある。又後者(2)でも電力を有利に使用して
いない。即ち、露光ランプのオン、オフとヒータ
のオン、オフを組合せる場合温度変化の早い方の
ヒータのオン、オフを露光ランプのオン、オフと
組合せるよりも、温度変化の早い方のヒータをメ
イン発熱体としてその温度を検知制御し温度変化
の遅い方のヒータを補助発熱体として露光ランプ
に合せてオン、オフさせた方が電力の有効使用と
なる。

第1図は本発明を応用した複写機における加熱
定着装置の一例を示す。定着ローラ1及び加圧ロ
ーラ2は互いに圧接されて内部のヒータ3,4に
より熱が供給され、互いに逆方向に回転して転写
紙5が相互間を通過する際にトナー6を加熱して
定着させる。ヒータ3,4は定着温度制御装置に
より制御され、定着ローラ1の表面温度が温度制
御素子、例えばサーミスタ7により検知される。
立上り時は両ヒータ3,4が点灯し、定着ローラ
1がある一定温度になるとサーミスタ7からの検
知信号により両ヒータ3,4がオフする。その後
は定着ローラ1及び加圧ローラ2を一定温度に保
つため両ヒータ3,4はオン、オフをくりかえ
す。コピーサイクル中はサーミスタ側のヒータ3
はサーミスタ7からの検知信号によりオン、オフ
をくりかえすが、他方のヒータ4は定着ローラ1
及び加圧ローラ2が複写紙5に奪われた熱を補給
するために、サーミスタ7からの検知信号に無関
係に露光ランプの点灯タイミングをぬつて点灯す
ることによつて電力を最大限に供給する。すなわ
ち、ヒータ4は露光ランプ点灯時にはオフし露光
ランプ消灯時にはオンする。例えば露光ランプが
スキヤニングを行なう複写機において露光ランプ
が往時に点灯して復時に消灯する場合ヒータ4を
露光ランプの往時に消灯し露光ランプの復時に点
灯することによりある限られた電力内で効果的に
定着部に熱を供給することができ比較的低電力で
良好な定着を行なうことができる。

させる。メインヒータ用スイツチ13及びサブヒ
ータ用スイツチ15はサイリスタ、トライアツ
ク、固体リレー又は通常のリレー等が用いられ
る。コピーシーケンス制御回路16は複写機にお
いて露光ランプ及びスキヤナーを含む各部をシー
ケンス制御してコピー動作を行なわせるもので、
スキヤナーリターン信号B、露光ランプ点灯信号
C等の制御信号を出力する。スキヤナーリターン
信号Bは露光ランプ及び可動光学系よりなるスキ
ヤナーをスキヤニング終了時にホーム位置へ復帰
させる時に出力され、露光ランプ点灯信号Cは露
光ランプを点灯させるスキヤニング時に出力され
る。サブヒータ制御回路17はコピー動作の各ス
テツプに応じてサブヒータ4を制御するもので、
インバータ18、オア回路19及びアンド回路2
0よりなる。インバータ18は露光ランプ点灯信
号Cを反転してアンド回路20に加え、オア回路
19は温度検出回路8の出力Aとスキヤナーリタ
ーン信号Bのオア(A+B)をとつてアンド回路
20に加え、アンド回路20はこれらの入力信号
C、A+Bのアンド(A+B)をとる。複写機
の待機時(非コピー動作時)にはスキヤナーリタ
ーン信号B及び露光ランプ点灯信号Cは、“0”

ド回路20を介してドライバー21に加えられ

ればサブヒータ用スイツチ15をオンさせてサブ
ヒータ4に電源14より交流電力を供給させ、出
力Aが“0”になればサブヒータ用スイツチ15
をオフさせてサブヒータ4を消灯させる。コピー
動作が開始されて露光ランプが点灯すると露光ラ
ンプ点灯信号Cが“1”でインバータ18の出力
Cが“0”になるのでサブヒータ4は点灯しな
い。露光が終了して露光ランプが消灯すると共に
スキヤナーが復帰動作に移行すると、露光ランプ
点灯信号Cが“0”でインバータ18の出力Cが
“1”になると共にスキヤナーリターン信号Bが
“1”になつてアンド回路20の出力(A+B)

し他方の熱源はコピーサイクル中には定着ローラ
及び加圧ローラが被定着材に奪われた熱を補給す
るために露光ランプ点灯時にオフさせて露光ラン
プ消灯時にオンさせることによつて電力を最大限
に供給するので、効率よ定着部へ熱を供給するこ
とができて複写機の省電力化を実現することがで
きる。しかも複写機の電源による限られた電力内
で上記制御により露光ランプ及び定着部の熱源に
それぞれ所定のタイミングにて電力を供給するこ
とによつて、限られた電力をフルに使つて露光ラ
ンプ及び定着部熱源の機能をフルに発揮させるこ
とができ定着部の立上り時間が短くなるととも
に、1つの温度検知素子を用いて簡単な制御で定
着温度を制御することができる。さらに露光ラン
プの点灯時に一方の熱源に供給する電力を露光ラ
ンプに回して電力の有効利用をするものにおい
て、他方の熱源を露光ランプ点灯時に温度検知素
子の検知信号に応じて制御するので、両ローラを
適正な温度に保つことができる。
