Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to form a uniform high grade blind pattern film even to a large composute curved surface having a concaved curved surface, by dividing a film forming part into two or more parts and employing specific deformable elastomer and mutually overlapping adjacent partial films to form a continuous pattern film. CONSTITUTION:The pattern film forming part 2 of a curved surface is divided into at least two parts and a deformable elastic press body is pressed to the curved surfaces of said parts in matching relation to said curved surfaces to transfer the coating solutions applied to the surfaces A, B, C of said press body to said curved surfaces and partial films are formed to the curved surfaces at every parts and adjacent partial films are mutually overlapped at adjacent parts to form a continuous pattern film. Because the pattern film having suffi cient density is formed by performing pressing two times or more at the same area in the same pattern, pressing is pref. performed at least two times. Even in the case of a large composite curved surface having a concave curved surface, a uniform high grade continuous pattern film can be formed.

[Prior Art] Conventionally, various methods such as a masking coating method and a screen printing method are known as methods for printing and painting a predetermined pattern [Printing Engineering Handbook, p. 744-745.
See F1, edited by the Printing Society of Japan, Gihodo Publishing (1982)]. Various methods have also been proposed for forming a coating film in a predetermined pattern on a curved surface. For example, Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 55-39309 discloses a method of forming a coating film with a predetermined pattern on a circular, oval, etc. container by screen printing method.
Japanese Patent Publication No. 58-33835 uses a combination of vacuum forming and compression molding using a transfer film. A method of thermally transferring onto a three-dimensional curved surface is described. Other methods include a method in which a special water-soluble film with a predetermined pattern printed on it is floated on the water surface and the predetermined pattern is transferred to a curved surface using water pressure; A transfer pattern method using layer pressure and a transfer method using air pressure via a flexible film, as described in Japanese Patent Publication No. 55-9305, etc., have also been proposed.

[Problems to be Solved by the Invention] With the recent diversification of designs, a wide variety of article shapes are being adopted, and there is an increasing demand for methods for forming patterned coatings on curved surfaces. For example, as can be seen in the blind coating on the peripheral attachments of the windshields of motorcycles such as auto/hey cars and scooters, the shape changes from simple curved surfaces to various complex curved surfaces, and such complex curved surfaces, especially convex curved surfaces, There is an increasing demand for forming patterned coatings on curved surfaces. When attempting to form a coating film in a predetermined pattern on the peripheral edge of a compound curved surface such as a windshield, various problems are recognized in conventional methods of forming a coating film on the curved surface.

For example, the method disclosed in Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 58-27350q is applicable to simple curved surfaces such as circles and ellipses, as well as to convex curved surfaces, but it is difficult to apply to complex curved surfaces with convex curves. be. Furthermore, with the conventional tacho printing method (also known as pad printing method, tampo printing method) and thermal transfer method, it is difficult to apply uniform pressure to the coating film to be formed on a large double-concave curved surface. There are problems such as blurring of the coating, partial shading of the coating film, poor transfer, difficulty in forming so-called coating film separation lines, and insufficient hiding effect.

[Means for Solving the Problems] Based on the recognition of the above-mentioned problems, the present inventors have discovered that it is possible to form a uniform, high-quality, continuous patterned coating film even in the case of a large multi-curved surface having a convex curved surface. Various studies have been carried out to provide a suitable means. As a result, in the octopus printing method, the part on which the patterned coating film is formed on the curved surface is divided into several parts, and the octopus, which can be deformed to match the curved surface of the part, is used to suppress the pattern twice or more. By forming a coating film, when viewing the coating film through a transparent object, it is difficult to detect the coating film overlap at the divided parts, and sufficient hiding power is obtained. Moreover, in the case of large multi-image molded products, it is possible to suppress patterns. The inventors have discovered that even if the printing surface is divided, when viewed from the opposite side of the printed surface, a beautiful printed surface with sufficient concealment properties can be obtained, and the present invention has been completed.

That is, the present invention provides an octopus printing method in which a predetermined pattern of coating film is formed on the curved surface of a transparent body whose coating film formation surface has a multi-curved surface, in which the pattern coating film forming portion of the curved surface is divided into at least two parts. Then, by pressing the octopus against the curved surface, the coating liquid placed on the surface of the octopus of the elastic pressing body, which does not deform and is curved, matches the curved surface of the part, and transfers the coating liquid to the curved surface of each part. The present invention provides a method for forming a continuous pattern coating film on a complex curved surface of a transparent body, which comprises forming a continuous pattern coating film on a complex curved surface of a transparent body, and forming a continuous pattern coating film by overlapping adjacent partial coating films in their adjacent portions.

In the present invention, it is important to divide the curved surface on which a predetermined pattern coating film is to be formed into appropriate parts, and form the pattern coating film by means of an octopus that deforms in accordance with the curved surface of the part. Therefore, it is preferable that the division be done in two parts, and the number of division parts is appropriately determined depending on the size of the transparent body, the shape of the predetermined pattern, the curvature of the curved surface, etc., but it is preferable to divide it into a large number of small parts. This is not necessarily preferable because it increases the number of octopuses and their plates.

In the present invention, it is important to employ a specific octopus that can be deformed to match the curved surface on which the pattern coating is to be formed. As such an octopus, one made of a flexible elastic material is preferably employed. Alignment 1 - When the IT-capable octopus presses and transfers the coating liquid onto a curved surface, the octopus itself deforms in alignment with the curved surface, achieving uniform pressure, which may cause unevenness in the patterned coating film obtained. The thickness of the coating film can be made uniform.

In the method of the present invention, as long as the configuration described in -1- is satisfied, the other nine operating procedure conditions can be appropriately selected from the range generally employed in conventional tacho printing methods. For example, octopuses include ink, paint used for coating and printing objects to be coated, rubber that can be impregnated with paint films,
A soft elastic body made of plastic is used. The material is not particularly limited, but an elastic body made of silicone, polyethylene porous body, etc., which is resistant to coating liquid solvents, vehicles, etc., is preferably used. Of course, when the solvent is water-based, alcohol-based, etc., polyurethane and other synthetic rubbers can also be used satisfactorily.

In the method of the present invention, the pattern coating film is formed by dividing it into sections and suppressing the octopus. It is important to employ means that leave no unformed portions, and by such means a continuous patterned coating is formed. That is, it is only necessary to overlap the coating films in adjacent partial coating films and in the adjacent portions, and as a means for this, a method of using an octopus and a plate for forming a pattern coating film that are slightly larger than the predetermined pattern. will be adopted.

In addition, in the method of the present invention, even if a pattern coating film with insufficient hiding power is formed by suppressing the same pattern twice or more, a pattern coating film with sufficient density can be formed by suppressing the same pattern two or more times at the same location. It is preferable to carry out the suppression at least twice.

The octopus printing method is rather unsuitable for solid printing on large areas, so the necessary parting lines are printed using octopus printing, and masking is applied over the octopus-printed area to print the remaining wide area. Of course, the area can be coated by other printing methods or painting methods, such as spray painting, or by appropriately combining other printing methods or painting methods with the method of the present invention.
