ニオンシヤフトと、前記ステアリングシヤフト及
び前記ピニオンシヤフトと同軸上に配置されて上
端がステアリングシヤフトに又下端がピニオンシ
ヤフトにそれぞれ連結されたトーシヨンバーと、
を有し、前記ステアリングシヤフト及びピニオン
シヤフト間の相対回転変位に基づいて前記ステア
リングホイールに付与された操舵トルクを検出す
る装置において、前記ギヤボツクス内で前記ステ
アリングシヤフト側の部材又は前記ピニオンシヤ
フト側の部材の一方に固定され且つ磁界を発生す
ることができる磁界発生手段と、この磁界発生手
段に臨むよう前記ステアリングシヤフト側の部材
又は前記ピニオンシヤフト側の部材の他方に固定
され且つ付与された磁界の強さに応じた電気信号
を出力する磁電変換素子と、を設けたことを特徴
とする操舵トルク検出装置。 (2) 前記ステアリングシヤフト及び前記ピニオ
ンシヤフトの対向部分に、それぞれ半径方向外側
に延びるフランジを各設け、それらステアリング
シヤフト側のフランジ及びピニオンシヤフト側の
