Claims

An annular sprag having a plurality of sprags interposed annularly between the inner and outer rings, a garter spring that urges these sprags in a direction to wedge the inner and outer rings, and alternating axial parts and circumferential parts that hold the respective sprags. It comprises a wire retainer, and an annular side plate that is engaged between the sprag end face and the retainer and held in sliding contact between the inner and outer rings, and a notch is provided on the outer peripheral edge of the side plate, and the annular side plate is engaged with the notch.
