Problems to be Solved by the Invention However, the method disclosed in the above-mentioned publication includes the step of expanding and retracting the edge of the fabric, so when sewing the tri-folded portion with the sewing machine, the method disclosed in the above publication is It is essential to advance to that point. That is, even if the fabric edge is placed opposite the needle droplet of the sewing machine during the process of fitting the fabric edge into the fabric holder, when the fabric edge is expanded and retreated, the fabric edge will move to the side of the needle droplet. Therefore, after the fabric edge and the folded portion are overlapped, the three-folded portion must be relatively advanced to a position opposite to the needle drop. As described above, according to the method of advancing the tri-folded portion to a position opposite to the needle drop in the step immediately before sewing, the advancing step becomes extra, which becomes an obstacle to increasing production efficiency.

Means for Solving the Problems In order to solve the above-mentioned problems, the sewing method of the present invention is a method of sewing a three-fold portion of a cylindrical fabric that is folded back in a serpentine shape, and in which the edge of the fabric is sewn between a pair of fabrics. After fitting it into the holder and holding it in a cylindrical shape, it is placed facing the needle dropper of the sewing machine.
The fabric edge is lifted from the holder by expanding the fabric edge, and then the fabric edge and its vicinity are moved forward and folded under the fabric edge in the cylindrical fabric. The fabric is folded in three, then the edge of the fabric is overlapped with the folded edge of the neighboring part, and then the pair of holders are rotated in synchronism to feed the cylindrical fabric while sewing the three-folded area. It is said that

Function: As mentioned above, when the fabric edge and its vicinity are folded in three by folding the fabric edge under the fabric edge that is floating from the holder, the fabric edge faces the sewing machine's needle drop in the first process. Therefore, when the tri-fold is completed, the tri-fold part automatically faces the needle drop of the sewing machine. Therefore, if the cylindrical fabric is fed immediately after being folded into three and the sewing machine is run, the three-folded portion will be sewn efficiently.

FIG. 1 is an overall schematic diagram of an automatic machine for carrying out the method of the present invention, and 1.1 shows fabric holders (hereinafter referred to as holders) arranged in parallel, and phantom line A in FIG. As shown, a cylindrical fabric 100 is fitted. The fabric 100 fitted into the holder 1 is kept in its cylindrical shape and is moved by the feeding means 2 provided on the holder 1 to the edge 1 of the fabric.
01 is advanced to a position opposite to the needle dropper 3 of the sewing machine shown in FIG. The feeding means 2 includes a pair of rollers 2
a, 2a, and an endless belt 2b wound around these rollers 2a, 2a, and are provided at a plurality of locations equiangularly spaced around a frame 4 having a truncated conical tip. As clearly shown in FIG.
are synchronously driven to rotate in the same direction. That is, the roller 2a of the feeding means 2 is provided with a helical gear mechanism 6, and this helical gear mechanism 6 is connected to the rotating shaft 5a of the drive source 5.
is connected to via a transmission gear 7. For example, if a stamping motor is used as the drive 'a5,
00 can be quantitatively advanced. Also fabric 10
There is an advantage that the feed position of the fabric edge 101 can be accurately controlled while controlling the tension of the fabric edge 101. Whether or not the fabric 100 has been advanced to the needle drop 3 is detected by fabric edge detection means 8 such as a phototube. That is, the fabric edge detection means 8
The fabric edge detection signal output from the drive source 5 is inputted to the drive source 5, and the rotation of the drive source 5 is stopped. If the plurality of feeding means 2 are simply driven in synchronization so that the fabric edge 101 faces the needle dropper 3, each part of the fabric edge 101 will become uneven in the front-rear direction, as shown by the imaginary lines in FIG. Therefore, when such irregularities occur, the fourth
As shown by arrow A in the figure, the pair of holders 1 and 2 are synchronously rotated in the same direction by a required angle to idle the fabric edge 101. After the fabric edges 101 are aligned in the front-back direction by this idle rotation, the process moves to the tri-folding process. A mechanism for rotating the holding body l is shown in FIG. As is clear from the figure, the holder 1 is provided with a rotating shaft 9, and this rotating shaft 9 is connected to the drive source 1.
0 via a transmission gear mechanism 11, and the rotation shafts 9, 9 of the left and right holding bodies 1.1 are connected to each other by a transmission heald 12. Also, as the holding body 1.1 rotates,
The idle length of the lining edge 101 is accurately detected by a rotation amount detector 13 such as a rotary encoder shown in the figure. Furthermore, in order to smooth out the wrinkles occurring at the edge 101 of the fabric, the suction mechanism 14 utilizing negative pressure shown in FIGS. 4 and 5 is activated. This suction mechanism 14
The support plate 1 is equipped with a support plate 16 that is raised and lowered by an air cylinder 15 and an air nozzle 17 that blows air forward.
6 and the air nozzle 17, negative pressure is generated in front of the fabric edge 101, and the negative pressure effect causes the fabric edge 10 to
1 is suctioned to smooth out wrinkles. If such wrinkle smoothing is performed while the fabric 100 is idly rotated as described above, there is no need to set a special time frame for wrinkle smoothing, which helps improve production efficiency.

The trifold process is performed by operating the trifold ruler 19 and the above-mentioned feeding means 2 of the holder 1. The tri-fold ruler 19 includes a fork 20 that is movably provided on the frame ξ and a presser member 22 that can move toward and away from the fork 20.
Two three-fold rulers 19 are provided oppositely to one holding body 1. In such a configuration, first, as shown in FIG. 6, the fork 20 is inserted between the endless healds 2b of the feeding means 1, and then moves backward as shown by arrow B in the figure, and is opposed to the needle dropper 3 of the sewing machine. It fits inside the fabric edge 101.

Subsequently, the presser member 22 approaches the fork 20,
As a result, the fabric edge 101 is clamped by the cooperation of the fork 20 and the presser member 22, and then, as shown in FIG. 7, the entire trifold ruler 19 moves away from the holder 1 while holding the fabric edge 101. As a result, the fabric edge 101 is lifted up from the holder 1 and expanded, as shown by the solid line in the figure. With the fabric edge 101 raised from the holder 1 in this manner, the feeding means 2 is operated to advance the portion 102 near the fabric edge 101 as shown by arrow C in FIG. Fold in. As a result, the fabric edge 101 and its neighboring portion 102 are folded into three in a meandering manner. After that, the trifold ruler 19 is brought close to the holder 1 as shown by the imaginary line in FIG. overlap the folded edge of the Thereafter, the trifold ruler 19 moves forward in the direction of the arrow. Next, move on to the sewing machine.

For sewing, the hem ruler 23 (see Figure 8) is inserted into the folded edge of the fabric edge portion 102 as shown by arrow C, and the rigidity of the fabric edge 101 is maintained by the suction mechanism 14 described above. I will do it while doing it. As clearly shown in FIG. 1, the hem suction mechanism 14 of the hem ruler 23 is disposed just in front of the needle dropper 3 of the sewing machine, and the hem ruler 23 can move forward and backward and up and down. As clearly shown in FIG. 10, the fork 24 of the hem ruler 23 is inserted into the folded end of the portion 102 near the edge of the fabric, and the edge 101 of the fabric can be slid freely by the air nozzle 17 of the suction mechanism 14 and the support plate 16. sandwiched between. From this state, when the material is fed to the edge 101 as indicated by arrow F in FIG. 11 and the sewing machine is operated at the same time, the tri-folded portion 103 described above is sewn. In order to feed the fabric to the edge 101, it is sufficient to start the drive source 10 explained in FIG. 2.

Sewing is performed over the entire length (entire circumference) of the tri-folded portion 103. During this sewing, the hemming ruler 23, the support plate 16 of the suction mechanism 14, and the air nozzle 17 are attached to the tri-folded portion 103 as described above. Since they overlap, they will get in the way of the sewing machine at the final stage of sewing. Therefore, when the sewing machine has finished sewing almost the entire circumference of the trifold portion 103, use the hem ruler 2 as shown by arrow E in FIG.
3 from the trifold portion 103. The suction mechanism 14 is also released from the trifold portion 103 in the same manner. After doing so, continue sewing the unsewn parts shown in the same figure. Further, the starting and ending ends of the sewing are double stitched Ll as shown in FIG. 14 to prevent the threads from fraying. 13th
The figure shows a state in which the feeding means 2 of the holder 1 is operated to release the trifold portion 103 from the needle dropper 3 after sewing has been completed.

With the above steps, the trifold portion 103 is sewn all around. After this, the fabric 100 is transferred to the next process, which is sleeve attachment. At this time, it is necessary to turn the fabric 100 over, but this can be easily done as follows. That is, as shown in FIG.
grip the trifold portion 103 and push the nip mechanism 24 forward of the holder 1 from this position. At the same time, holding body 1
The feeding means 2 is driven in the opposite direction to the extrusion direction of the nip mechanism 24. In this way, the fabric 100 moves forward in parallel with the folding of the trifold portion 103, so the fabric 100
00 is flipped over. The fabric 100 that has been turned inside out is transferred to the next sleeve attachment process.

Effects of the invention According to the present invention, there is no need to advance the trifold part to a position facing the needle droplet of the sewing machine immediately before applying the sewing machine, and the positioning of the needle droplet and the trifold part is done at the initial stage. This is done when the end is facing the needle drop. This eliminates the need to align the trifold portion and the needle dropper, leading to improved production efficiency in automatic machines.
