本考案はオイルシールに係る。被密封液の油や
水に固定微粒子等の異物が含有していると、摺動
接触しているオイルシールのリツプ部と回転軸と
の間に異物が喰い込みオイルシールのリツプ部並
びに回転軸表面の摩耗が促進され、オイルシール
の密封性能が低下し寿命が短縮されることがあ
る。このため主リツプより被密封液側に補助リツ
プを設け、主リツプに異物が直接作用しない様に
改良したオイルシールが考案されてきたが、補助

する如く第2補助リツプ5を設けたのが本考案の
特徴である。第2補助リツプ5は図面に示すよう
に第1補助リツプ4にほぼ平行に囲繞する如く被
密封液側に延出し、その先端部の内周面に回転軸
2の中心線に向つて形成した薄い突起、すなわち
リブ6を複数個備えている。さらに、第2補助リ
ツプ5はその中腹部に多数の貫通孔7を備えてい
る。また、前記リブ6は第2図に示すように断面
がほぼ梯形を呈している。第3図に示すように前
記リブ6は被密封液側に向つて厚さが薄くなるよ

に吐出するポンプ作用を行う。このポンプ作用に
よつて油や水は第1図に矢印Bで示すような循環
流を生ずる。すなわちリブ6からポンプ作用で吐
出した油や水は第1図において右まわりに流動し
て第2補助リツプ5の中腹部に設けた多数の貫通
孔7を通過して再びリブ6に入る。この循環流は
回転軸9が回転している間中持続する。したがつ
てこの油や水の中に含まれている固体微粒子等の
異物が第1補助リツプ4や主リツプ3と回転軸2
との接触面に喰い込むことを防止できる。したが
つて、固定微粒子等の異物の影響によるこれらリ
ツプ部の損傷、ひいては回転軸の損傷も軽減でき
るので、特に、被密封液に異物が含有しやすい洗
濯機用やデイーゼルエンジン用のオイルシールと
