This polyurethane foam is a type of semi-rigid polyurethane foam, and is obtained by reacting a polyol and a polyisocyanate compound as main components and foaming and curing the foam. Broadly speaking, two types of polyols are used. One of them is a polyol called a polymer polyol, which is a polyol obtained by graft polymerizing acrylonitrile or styrene in a polyether polyol or polyester polyol. Other polyols are polyols belonging to the polyether polyols and polyester polyols that are commonly used as raw materials for polyurethane foams. Examples of energy absorbing polyurethane foams using the latter polyol include, for example, Japanese Patent Publication No. 52-43239, Japanese Patent Publication No. 53-4040, and Japanese Patent Publication No. 53-14119.
It is stated in the publication number etc. Compared to energy-absorbing polyurethane foams that use polymer polyols, the latter foams are easier to handle due to the lower viscosity of the polyol, and the price of the polyol is lower. It is expected that the future prospects will be high for these reasons.

る。 The inventors have considered producing energy absorbing polyurethane foams substantially without the use of polymer polyols. Although this polyurethane foam is a semi-rigid foam having open cells, it often lacks compression hardness to be used for energy absorption. If the compressive hardness is insufficient, the polyurethane foam becomes easily deformed by low impact forces, resulting in a decrease in energy absorption efficiency.

エネルギー吸収用ポリウレタンフオームである。 The present inventor conducted various studies for the purpose of improving the compression hardness of energy absorbing polyurethane foam. One possible method for improving the compression hardness of polyurethane foam is to use a polyol with a low hydroxyl value as a raw material. However, a polyurethane foam using a polyol with a low hydroxyl value has the disadvantage that closed cells are likely to be formed and the foam becomes brittle. Therefore, the present inventor searched for additives with the aim of improving the compression hardness of polyurethane foam without using a specific polyol. As a result, it was found that addition of vinyl chloride resin was effective. The present invention is an energy-absorbing polyurethane foam containing this vinyl chloride resin, that is, at least two components, a polyol component containing a polyol as a main component and an isocyanate component containing a polyisocyanate compound as a main component, are reacted. In the resulting energy absorbing polyurethane foam,
This is an energy absorbing polyurethane foam characterized in that a vinyl chloride resin is present in the energy absorbing polyurethane foam in an amount of 5 to 40% by weight based on the polyurethane foam.

Preferably, a homopolymer or copolymer having a vinyl chloride content of 80% by weight or more is used. Among the additives, it is preferable to use a plasticizer, but it is also possible to mix it, for example, in a powdered state with the raw material components of the polyurethane foam without using it. Preferably, a plasticizer is used, and it is particularly preferable to use a fluid vinyl chloride resin containing a plasticizer called vinyl chloride paste resin. The vinyl chloride resin is usually used by adding it to the polyol component, but it is not limited thereto. The blending amount of vinyl chloride resin is 5 to 40% by weight, especially 5 to 30% by weight based on the polyurethane foam.
is preferred. This blending amount includes plasticizers and other additives, but fillers and other additives that are not blended with the vinyl chloride resin but are added to the polyurethane foam raw material are excluded from the calculation.

い。 The energy absorbing polyurethane foam of the present invention is a semi-rigid foam obtained by foaming and curing in a mold a reactive mixture of at least two components each containing a polyol and a polyisocyanate compound as main components. The polyol is preferably a polyol containing substantially no polymer polyol as described above, but of course a polymer polyol may also be used. Polyurethane foam usually uses a catalyst and a blowing agent in addition to the above two components. Furthermore, in energy absorbing polyurethane foams, low molecular weight polyols and amines are often used as chain extenders or crosslinking agents. In the present invention, these catalysts, blowing agents, and chain extenders (crosslinking agents) are usually essential components. In addition, the polyurethane foam of the present invention includes foam stabilizers, colorants,
Fillers, stabilizers and other additives may also be added.

As the polyether polyol, one of alkylene oxide having 2 to 4 carbon atoms is used as a divalent to 5-valent polyhydric alcohol or other initiator.
Preferred are polyoxyalkylene polyols and tetrahydrofuran polymers obtained by adding one species or two or more species. As these polyether polyols, polyether polyols having 2 to 4 hydroxyl groups and a molecular weight of 1000 to 3000 per hydroxyl group are particularly suitable. Further, a combination of a polyether polyol with a high number of hydroxyl groups and a polyether polyol with a low number of hydroxyl groups (however, two or more) or a combination of polyether polyols with different molecular weights can be used.

Usually, the polyol component is a mixture of all raw materials except the polyisocyanate compound, and the isocyanate component consists only of the polyisocyanate compound. However, the present invention is not limited to this, and compounds or raw materials that are non-reactive with the polyisocyanate compound may be added to the isocyanate component. Preferably, both components are mixed in a high-pressure foaming machine. Both rapidly mixed components are immediately poured into a mold where they foam and harden.
