The recent trend towards miniaturization of connector housings (hereinafter simply referred to as housings) that accommodate electrical terminals has become an important issue, but in general, as housings become smaller, the terminals formed inside the terminal housing chambers become smaller. In order to compensate for the decrease in strength of the locking arm,
Various methods have been devised for forming new terminal locking means in the housing to prevent double terminals from coming off backwards. As a conventionally known means for preventing double terminals from coming off backwards, for example, the method of the actual development shown in Fig.
There are the means described in Japanese Patent Laid-open No. 57-192076, and the means described in Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 112791/1983 as shown in FIG. That is, the means shown in FIG. 1 engages the rear end of the electrical contact part c of the terminal with the housing lance e projecting into the terminal accommodating chamber, and forms a spacer accommodating chamber at the rear of the terminal accommodating chamber a. Then, a spacer b is inserted into the spacer storage chamber, and the front end of the spacer b is brought into contact with the rear end of the wire insulator crimped part d of the electric terminal, and the means shown in FIG. The locking piece f provided on the base plate of the terminal is engaged with the step g provided on the inner wall of the terminal accommodating chamber, and a lid body that can be opened and closed via a hinge h is attached to a part of the upper wall of the terminal accommodating chamber. i
The projection j provided on the back surface of the lid is brought into contact with the rear end of the electrical contact part k of the terminal.

However, in such a conventional method, an extra space is provided in the terminal housing chamber to accommodate the member for preventing the double terminal from coming off backward so that it abuts a part of the terminal. In some cases, it may be necessary to process the terminal itself to make it fit against the above-mentioned member. Therefore, in the above-mentioned means, the opening area of the terminal accommodating chamber must be larger than the opening area of the terminal accommodating chamber in which only the terminal locking arm is formed, which is a major obstacle to downsizing the housing. It was becoming.

The housing body A consists of a box with an opening 1 at one end for terminal insertion, and the box is divided into a plurality of (four in the figure) terminal accommodating chambers 2 via a partition frame 3 as necessary. has been done. An electric wire pull-out hole 5 is formed on one side of the opening edge 4 of the housing body A, and a lid body B that closes the opening 1 via a rotating means such as a hinge 7 is integrated on the other side. is formed. On both sides of the back surface of this lid body B, protruding plates 11 are provided to protrude in parallel with the side plates 10 of the lid body B so as to form side grooves 9 for accommodating the protruding plates 8 on both sides of the opening of the housing body A. FIG. 5 is a longitudinal cross-sectional view of the housing according to the present invention, showing a state in which the lid body B is closed and engaged with the opening 1 of the housing body A, and shows an electrical contact portion 21 with a male terminal (not shown), and an electric wire. A female terminal C consisting of a crimping part 22 and a covered wire crimping part 23 is housed in the terminal accommodating chamber 2, with the bottom plate 21' of the electrical contact part 21 facing the inner wall side 18 of the terminal accommodating chamber, The electric wire 20 connected to the rear end of the terminal is connected to the opening 1 of the housing body A.
After being bent at a right angle in the plane of the housing body A, the wire is drawn out from the wire drawing hole 5 (see FIG. 3) provided at the edge of the bottom plate 4 of the housing body A. In the figure, 24 is a front stopper projecting from the front end of the terminal accommodating chamber, and 25 is an insertion hole for a male terminal (not shown).

Next, on the back surface of the lid B, which is rotatably attached by a hinge 7, there is a projection 1 that presses the bent portion 20' of the electric wire at a position that substantially coincides with the axial direction of the terminal.
7 is provided protrudingly. Further, if a large number of protrusions 17' are formed on the end face of the protrusion 17, the protrusions 17' bite into the insulation coating at the bending part 20' of the electric wire, and the protrusion 17 is pressed into contact with the bent part of the electric wire. can be further strengthened.

Next, the operation of the present invention will be explained based on FIG. The female terminal C is temporarily fixed by engaging the lance 19. Next, the electric wire 20 connected to the rear end of the female terminal C is bent at right angles in the surface of the opening 1 of the housing A, and is drawn out through the wire extraction hole 5. Next, the lid body B is closed by the hinge 7.
Close the lid and lock the lid 13 into the housing body A.
It is engaged with the locking protrusion 15 on the side wall (see Fig. 3). Then, the protrusion 17 provided on the back side of the lid body B
By press-contacting the terminal C in the axial direction at the wire bending portion 20', the terminal C is prevented from coming off backward.

In the above explanation, a male housing housing a female terminal has been described as housing A, but the same can be applied to a female housing housing a male terminal, and the lid B is not necessarily as described above. It is not necessary to provide it integrally with the housing body via the hinge part, and it can be formed as a separate member from the housing body.

As described above, the present invention provides a connector housing comprising a connector body having a terminal accommodating chamber with one end serving as an opening for inserting a terminal, and a lid which is closed and locked in said opening so as to be freely opened and closed, with wire lead-out holes formed at the edge of said opening, and a protrusion formed on the underside of said lid which presses against the bent portion of a wire connected to a terminal accommodated in said terminal accommodating chamber in the axial direction of said terminal when said lid is closed and locked. This housing is constructed so that there is no need to provide a double means for preventing the terminal from falling out backward within the terminal accommodating chamber as in the past, and therefore the housing can be made smaller in size, and since the wire portion prevents the terminal from falling out backward, it can be applied to terminals of various shapes and has a wide range of uses. Furthermore, the lid of the housing has the function of preventing the terminal from falling out backward as well as
It has many advantages, such as the function of protecting the terminals by preventing water droplets and dust from entering the terminal receiving chamber.
