When casting nonferrous metals such as aluminum,
A ladle to transfer the molten metal and a holding furnace (hand furnace) to maintain the melting temperature are used. The crucible and ladle, which are containers for these molten metals, are covered with lids to prevent heat dissipation to the upper part and to reduce the temperature drop of the molten metal. Traditionally, this lid has been made of a steel plate, a single sheet such as a blanket or board made of heat-resistant short fibers, or a single sheet fixed to an iron plate with metal fittings or adhesive. .

This lid is frequently attached and detached, but the steel plate type () is heavy and difficult to handle, so special support and moving tools are required, and since it has no insulation, the temperature of the molten metal drops significantly and the surface temperature rises, resulting in large heat losses and a poor working environment, as touching the surface can cause burns. The sheet () alone is light and easy to handle and has high insulation, but since it is made of short fibers, after the binder mixed in the short fibers is burned by heating, it cracks and peels due to the force applied during handling, resulting in a short lifespan and the problem of fragments entering the molten metal and contaminating it. The steel plate with insulation () has no problems with lifespan or insulation, but is heavy and inconvenient to handle, just like ().

A fire-resistant insulation sheet such as a blanket, felt, board, or molded product made of fire-resistant short fibers, a cloth made of heat-resistant long fibers placed closely on both sides of the sheet, and a cloth made of heat-resistant long fibers placed on both sides of the sheet. The present invention provides a lid for a molten metal container comprising a heat-resistant filament thread made by stitching together the cloth along the outer periphery of the sheet.

The fire-resistant short fibers that make up the fire-resistant insulation sheet are Al 2 O 3 , which is industrially called ceramic fiber.
- SiO 2 type materials and materials mainly composed of Al 2 O 3 , with a thickness of 1 to 10 μm, a fiber length of 250 mm or less for blankets and felts, and a fiber length of 20 to 30 mm or less for board molded products. is commonly used.

Heat-resistant long fibers that are industrially used to construct heat-resistant cloth include alkali-free glass fiber, which is obtained by removing alkali from glass fiber,
High-temperature long fibers such as Al 2 O 3 −SiO 2 −B 2 O 3 fibers,
There is a long fiber for low temperature use that is generally called glass fiber. High-temperature long fibers are more expensive than low-temperature long fibers, so the cloth facing the molten metal is made of high-temperature long fibers, and the outer side is made of low-temperature long fibers. A cloth made of long fibers is generally used, but both cloths on both sides may be made of long fibers for high temperature or low temperature use depending on the place of use.

Figures 1 and 2 show an embodiment of the lid according to the present invention, which is made of fire-resistant short fibers and has a thickness of 5 cm.
Two disc-shaped fireproof heat insulating sheets 1 made of blankets are used in a stacked manner. On both sides of the fire-resistant heat insulating sheet 1, there are disc-shaped heat-resistant long fiber cloths 2 and 3 with an outer diameter slightly larger than the outer diameter of the fire-resistant heat insulating sheet 1.
are arranged in close contact with each other, and the edges of the cloths 2 and 3 protruding from the periphery of the fire-resistant heat-insulating sheet 1 are sewn together along the outer periphery of the fire-resistant heat-insulating sheet 1 with thread 4 made of fire-resistant long fibers. Cloth 2 is made of high-temperature long fibers, and cloth 3 is made of low-temperature long fibers. Both ends of a handle 5 made of a string made of low-temperature long fibers are sewn to the cloth 3 used as the outside. If strength is required, a refractory metal rod or net may be inserted between the heat insulating sheets 1.

Blankets, felts, boards, molded products, etc. made from fibers generally called ceramic fibers are approximately 5cm thick due to the manufacturing method.
The maximum bending strength of molded products at room temperature is approximately 15 kg/cm 2 , and the maximum after heating at 800°C for 24 hours is only about 7 kg/cm 2 . and place a fire-resistant long fiber cloth,
The edges of this cloth are sewn along the outer periphery of the sheet, so the cloth acts as a tensile material against external bending forces, preventing cracks from occurring in the fireproof insulation sheet.
It protects the lid from peeling or chipping, making it possible to construct a lid that is lightweight and has good insulation properties that can be used for a long period of time.
