[Detailed Description of the Invention] The present invention relates to an oil seal, and more specifically, an object of the present invention is to provide an oil seal with low friction loss. Conventionally, as shown in FIG. 1, an oil seal 1 has a circumferential groove 7 formed on the rear outer periphery of a sliding surface 3 of a lip portion 2, and a tightening ring 4 is fitted into the circumferential groove 7 to apply tension. It has gained. However, as shown in the graph shown in Fig. 2, the relationship between the frictional force (F) and tension force (Pr) between the sliding rotating surface 3 and the axis a is experimentally shown in Fig. 2, and F∝ It is expressed by the relational expression Pr, and it can be seen that it is preferable to reduce the tension force in order to reduce the frictional force. However, the tension force is generated by the elastic force due to the tightness of the seal lip against the axis and the tension ring, and if the sharing ratio of the tightening ring is reduced, the sealing performance will become unstable due to wear and creep of the lip part, so it is necessary to reduce the above tension force. In order to achieve this, the tension force on the seal lip must be reduced, and the present invention reduces the tension force on the seal lip of the oil seal while maintaining sufficient tightness to ensure sealing performance.

That is, to explain the present invention according to the first embodiment shown in FIG. 3, the tension force on the lip portion 2 of the oil seal 1 is due to the elastic force of the lip portion 2.
It occupies 30% to 50%, and the peripheral edge 5 of the lip portion 2
By arranging slits 6, 6, etc. extending in the radial direction at appropriate intervals on the circumferential portion of the lip portion 2, the tension force caused by the elastic force of the lip portion 2 can be reduced and a tension force of an appropriate value can be obtained. , it is possible to construct an oil seal with low frictional force.

FIG. 4 shows another embodiment of the present invention, in which the circumferential edge 5a of the circumferential groove 7 on the tightening ring holding side is extended so as to hold the tightening ring. On the other hand, since a large number of slits 6, 6, etc. extending in the radial direction are formed in the circumferential portion at equal intervals in the circumferential direction, and the oil seal is made of a soft rubber elastic body, it is possible to mold this portion. This makes it possible to securely hold the tightening ring in the circumferential groove 7 by the extended peripheral edge 5a.

As explained above, according to the present invention, since the slit 6 extending in the radial direction is provided on the circumferential portion of the circumferential edge for holding the tightening ring that fits around the lip portion, the tightening force on the circumferential edge is eliminated, and the tightening force on the circumferential edge is removed. Since the tension force is reduced, it is possible to obtain an oil seal with low frictional force, low friction loss in the sliding and rotating parts, and a long service life, and the practical effects of the present invention are extremely large.
