ツクの一部にトラツキング用のパイロツト信号が
記録され、このパイロツト信号の記録位置の大部
分が連続する３本のトラツク間でヘツド走査方向
の直交方向からみたとき互いに重なり合わないよ
うに記録された磁気テープを記録トラツク幅より
広いギヤツプ幅を有する回転ヘツドにより再生す
る再生装置に於て、上記トラツクの再生信号から
上記パイロツト信号を選択するバンドパスフイル
タと、該バンドパスフイルタの出力のエンベロー
プ成分を検出するエンベロープ検出回路と、該エ
ンベロープ検出回路の出力をサンプルホールドす
る第１のサンプルホールド回路と、該第１のサン
プルホールド回路の出力と上記エンベロープ検出
回路の出力との差信号と和信号とを除算する除算
回路と、該除算回路の出力をサンプルホールドす
る第２のサンプルホールド回路と、所定トラツク
の再生中に回転ヘツドがそのトラツクと隣接する
一方のトラツク上のパイロツト信号記録位置に達
した時点で上記第１のサンプルホールド回路を動
作させると共に、隣接する他方のトラツク上のパ
イロツト信号記録位置に達した時点で上記第２の
サンプルホールド回路を動作させるように制御す
る制御回路とを具備し、上記第２のサンプルホー
ルド回路の出力によりトラツキング制御を行なう
