The molds shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 are conceivable as molds for continuous casting of thin sheets. That is, a mold is constituted by upper and lower belt conveyors 1 and 2 that are parallel to each other and a pair of side belt conveyors 3 and 4 that are arranged on both sides of the upper and lower belt conveyors 1 and 2. Molten metal is poured into the mold, and the thin plate 6 is pulled out from the front end of the mold.

According to this configuration, although the height of the machine can be lowered, four belt conveyors 1 to 4 are required, and the water reservoir 7 is small.
Since a shell 8 is formed on top of the molten metal by the upper belt conveyor 1, impurities contained in the molten metal cannot float up to the surface of the molten metal in the molten metal 7 and are easily captured by the shell 8, which deteriorates the quality of the thin plate 6. There's a problem.

Therefore, the present invention provides a horizontal mold for continuous casting of thin sheets that solves these problems, and its features include a bottom belt conveyor and a mold placed on the bottom belt conveyor at an appropriate distance from each other. The belt conveyor is formed by a pair of side belt conveyors and a heat insulating dam disposed between the rear ends of the belt conveyors. According to such a configuration,
Only three belt conveyors are required, making it highly economical. In addition, the upper surface of the mold is completely open, allowing for a large molten metal reservoir, allowing impurities contained in the molten metal to rise to the surface of the molten metal.
It is difficult to be captured by Ciel. Therefore, the quality of the thin plate can be improved.

Hereinafter, one embodiment of the present invention will be described based on FIGS. 3 to 7. That is, the mold of this embodiment is of a horizontal type, and the bottom belt conveyor 10
, a pair of side conveyors 12 and 13 arranged on the bottom belt conveyor 10 with front ends close to each other and rear ends spaced apart from each other in a "V" shape when viewed from above; and the both side belt conveyors. 1
2 and 13, and an insulating weir 14 made of firebrick placed between the rear ends of the dams 2 and 13. 15 is a support girder that supports the bottom surface of the steel belt 10A of the bottom belt conveyor 10, and an arm 17 is attached to the fixed body 16.
has been fixed through. 18 is the roller 10B, 10C, 1 of each belt conveyor 10, 12, 13
It is a bearing that rotatably supports 2B, 12C, 13B, and 13C, and is fixed to the fixed body 16. Reference numeral 19 denotes a drive motor that rotates the rollers 10B, 12B, 13B on the front end side of each belt conveyor 10, 12, 13 in the direction of the arrow via a gear box 20. The belts 10A, 12A, 13A of the conveyors 10, 12, 13 are synchronously and integrally run. 21 is a support roller that supports the belts 12A, 13A of the belt conveyors 12, 13 on both sides, and a bearing 22 is mounted on the fixed body 16.
It is rotatably supported through. Reference numeral 23 indicates a guide roller of the thin plate 6 provided on the downstream side of the mold, and reference numeral 24 indicates a height adjustment weir disposed at the upper part of the tundish 7.

In the above configuration, both side belt conveyors 1
A dummy bar is inserted between the front ends of the cylinders 2 and 13, and molten metal is injected into the mold from the tongue nozzle 5. Once the shell 8 has been formed to an appropriate thickness, the belts 10A and 12 are rotated integrally by the drive motor 19 while pulling the dummy bars.
All you have to do is pull out the thin plate 6 from between A and 13A.

In the above embodiment, the belt conveyors 12 and 13 on both sides are arranged in a "V" shape when viewed from the top in order to make the sump 7 large, but in cases where there is no need to make the sump 7 particularly large, such as when there are few impurities. As shown in Fig. 8, there are belt conveyors 1 on both sides.
2 and 13 may be arranged in parallel when viewed from a plane.

As described above, according to the present invention, only three belt conveyors are required, and it is highly economical. Furthermore, since the upper surface of the mold is completely open and the molten metal reservoir can be made large, impurities contained in the molten metal float up to the surface of the molten metal in the molten metal reservoir and are difficult to be captured by the shell. Therefore, the quality of the thin plate can be improved.
