Conventionally, when sewing pockets and the like using a sewing machine, a worker or the like would hold the pocket with their hands, and when sewing curved lines along the edges, they would turn the pocket with their hands as they sewed. However, such curve stitching, which is manually turned by an operator, requires skill on the part of the operator, and it is extremely difficult to form a neat and uniform curve. Furthermore, it requires even more skill and difficulty to perform straight stitches continuously as needed during work.

When sewing a pocket using this sewing device, for example, the pocket material 20, which is folded on one side and overlapped on the other side, is placed on the sewing surface 12 under the needle 2 and the presser foot 3, and then the presser foot is attached as shown in FIG. 5A. Put down 3. At this time, the presser plate 7 does not descend onto the pocket material 20 because the slide shaft 6 is locked by the lock pin 16. Then, drive the sewing machine main body 1 and
As shown in Figure A, a straight line is sewn along the straight edge 21a of the mating edge 21 of the pocket material 20. At this time, the pocket material 20 is fed by a feeding device 13 below the needle 2 of the sewing machine body 1. And Figure 4B
As shown in FIG. 2, when the stitches are sewn to the end of the straight edge 21a and immediately before entering the curved edge 21b, a drive control device (not shown) is activated by counting a preset stitch count counter (not shown). Drive device 5
The solenoid is activated, the lock pin 16 rotates, the slide shaft 6 is separated from the locking tube 17, the lock is released, and the slide shaft 6 falls downward due to the weight of the weight 8. As a result, as shown in FIG. 5B, the presser plate 7 falls onto the pocket material 20, and the pocket material 2
0 is pressed onto the sewing surface 12. However, the slide shaft 6 of this presser plate 7 is free to rotate at this position, and the feeder 1 of the sewing machine body 1
3, the pocket material 20 is pulled, so that the pocket material 20 rotates around the slide shaft 6 of the presser plate 7. Since the center of the arc of the curved edge 21b of the pocket material 20 is aligned with the slide shaft 6, the needle 2 is moved along the curved edge 21b of the mating edge 21 of the pocket material 20, as shown in FIG. 4C. I will have to sew it. Then, when sewing this curved edge 21b, the stitches are counted, and when the needle 2 reaches the end of the curved edge 21b as shown in FIG. The pressure on the pocket material 15 by the pocket member 7 is released. At this time, the presser plate 7 and slide shaft 6 are rotated and raised by a spiral guide (not shown), and the presser plate 7 returns to its home position (dotted chain line shown in FIG. 4D), and the lock pin 16 is automatically moved. The slide shaft 6 is then locked to the lower surface of the locking tube 17. Thereupon, the pocket material 20 stops rotating, and in that position, is sewn along the straight edge 21a' while being fed only by the feeding device 13, and the tip of the cloth-pulling roller 9 descends into contact with the end of the pocket material 20. ,
The rotation of the roller pulls the pocket material 20 toward the rear of the sewing machine body 1. In this manner, the joining edge 21 of the pocket material 20 is sewn.

This machine performs curved stitches on the material to be sewn by rotating the presser foot 7 around the
The structure is extremely simple, and it is possible to reliably perform beautiful curved stitches. Therefore, unlike the conventional method in which the workpiece is turned by hand, no skill is required, and neat curved stitches can be made uniformly. Further, this presser plate 7 has a curved edge 7a that matches the curve to be sewn, and this curved edge 7a
Since the needle 2 is positioned close to the needle 2 and the lower surface of the presser plate 7 is filed as described above, the coated product will not be torn or wrinkled.
In addition, by changing to a presser plate 7 of a different shape so that the slide shaft 6 is located at the center of the arc of the curve to be sewn, or by making the slide shaft 6 movable in the horizontal direction, it is possible to sew a curve of a desired diameter. Further, the presser plate 7 of the present invention must press the workpiece and rotate the workpiece by the pulling force of the feed device of the sewing machine.

As described above, this invention differs from the conventional method in which a worker rotates the workpiece by hand to sew curved lines.
By mechanically holding down the workpiece and rotating it, it is possible to stitch curved lines of a desired diameter extremely neatly and reliably, and it is also suitable for mass production because it can stitch uniformly curved lines. In addition, the presser foot of the sewing machine needle can press the fabric independently from the presser foot on the slide shaft, so if you lift the presser foot on the slide shaft upwards and release it from the fabric, you can continue sewing straight curves. It can be done by
