Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled carbon capable of adsorbing ammonia and hydrogen sulfide, etc., with a good efficiency by impregnating the honeycomb activated carbon formed to a fine cell with the chemical for chemically adsorbing a specific odor component, followed by forming the titled carbon. CONSTITUTION:The chemical for chemically absorbing the odor component such as ammonia, hydrogen sulfide or aldehyde, etc., which is difficult to deodorizing by an active carbon is impregnated to the active carbon by dipping the honeycomb activated carbon 1 formed to the fine cell in a tank contg. the prescribed chemical. Subsequently, the titled carbon is manufactured by calcining and drying the obtd. active carbon. The surface 1a passing air of the honeycomb active carbon 1 is formed practically to a fine cell having 10-1,000 mesh (10-1,000 cell numbers/in<2>). The chemical for absorbing the odor component is exemplified by sulfuric acid, an organic acid and sodium hydroxide, etc.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Conventionally, honeycomb-type activated carbon has been characterized in that it has a smaller pressure loss than ordinary crushed and granulated activated carbon, and because it is formed into fine particles, it has excellent deodorizing performance. The raw materials for this honeycomb-type activated carbon include the same coal and coconut husks that are used for regular activated carbon.

Problems to be Solved by the Invention Therefore, although such conventional honeycomb-type activated carbon can sufficiently exhibit the deodorizing performance inherent to activated carbon, it cannot deodorize ammonia, hydrogen sulfide, aldehydes, etc. that cannot be deodorized even with activated carbon. It had some problems.

In addition, because the honeycomb structure is formed from river particles as mentioned above, the pores are uniform and have a large number of small pores (microbore) compared to ordinary activated carbon. However, there is a problem in that the components once absorbed are likely to be re-released due to external influences such as temperature and humidity.

The present invention also provides that, in order to produce the honeycomb-type activated carbon impregnated with a chemical as described above, the honeycomb-type activated carbon formed into fine cells is immersed in a bath containing the chemical for chemical adsorption, and then impregnated with the honeycomb-type activated carbon. This method consists of firing and drying.

According to the present invention, by impregnating honeycomb-type activated carbon with the above-mentioned chemicals, even odor components such as ammonia, hydrogen sulfide, and aldehydes, which are difficult to act on the deodorizing function of activated carbon, can be removed by honeycomb-type activated carbon. A chemical reaction occurs between the chemicals attached to the surface, and deodorization occurs through chemical adsorption.

Honeycomb-type activated carbon impregnated with chemicals (1) configured as above
I will explain about it. Chemical-impregnated honeycomb-type activated carbon (IJ) is composed of fine cells, so its
The finer the particles or the greater the thickness, the longer the contact time with odor components and the better the deodorizing performance. Among the odor components such as ammonia, hydrogen sulfide, and aldehydes, in which activated carbon alone has a weak deodorizing effect, in an odor environment that contains a large amount of ammonia, honeycomb-type activated carbon impregnated with acidic chemicals such as sulfuric acid and organic acids can be used to remove odors. Effective chemisorption of ammonia occurs, greatly improving deodorizing performance. Furthermore, in an odor environment containing a large amount of acidic odor components such as hydrogen sulfide, the deodorizing performance is greatly improved by using honeycomb-type activated carbon impregnated with an alkali group chemical such as sodium hydroxide. In addition, in an odor environment that contains many alkaline and acidic odor components, honeycomb-type activated carbon impregnated with a chemical such as iron halide that is weakly acidic and causes a chemical reaction with sulfides can be used to remove alkaline odor. It can chemically adsorb both acidic and acidic odors. Regarding aldehydes, the deodorizing performance can be similarly improved by impregnating them with chemicals that chemically adsorb them.

Further, by performing chemical adsorption as described above, it is possible to prevent the re-release of odor components that are likely to be re-released due to external influences such as temperature and humidity by physical adsorption alone.

Next, a method for manufacturing the chemical-impregnated honeycomb activated carbon (1) will be described with reference to FIG. 2. First, prepare the honeycomb-type activated carbon (1) (Figure 2 a), decide on the chemical to be impregnated with according to the target odor component, and place the determined chemical in a tank adjusted to a certain concentration. Honeycomb-shaped activated carbon is immersed in the water for a certain period of time (Figure 2b). The honeycomb activated carbon that has been soaked and stored with chemicals is placed in a firing furnace and fired and dried at a constant temperature for a certain period of time (Fig. 2C).

Effects of the Invention As described above, according to the present invention, by impregnating honeycomb-type activated carbon with a chemical according to odor, the efficiency of honeycomb-type activated carbon remains unchanged, and it is possible to eliminate ammonia, hydrogen sulfide, and aldehyde, which were previously unable to be deodorized. By chemically adsorbing odor components such as odors and preventing their re-emission, a great practical effect of significantly improving deodorizing performance can be obtained.
