本発明は電子写真複写機の感光体のクリーニングを補助

(従来技術)
従来よりクリーニング前に放電器を設け、かつ交流放電
を行い、クリーニングに入力するトナーの帯電量、感光
体の電位を制御する方法はある。この方法は常に放電器
に入力する条件が一定であればその出力も一定とするこ
とが出来、例えば転写残留トナー及びその領域内に感光
体電位を制御するのみであれば問題はない。しかし、近
年、例えばトナー濃度の制御を転写領域外に設けたトナ
ー付着パターンを光学的に検知することで行う装置が発
売されている。この場合、転写領域内外では紙の存在の
有無により少なくとも転写放電器からの電荷(分離放電
器がある装置ではその電荷も)を直接に受ける、受けな
いの差よりその入力条件が一定とはならず、又、同一条
件でその両者を出力として一定とすることが困難となり
、クリーニング不良が発生してしまうという問題点が生

ができないことがわかった。さて、本発明が上記入力条
件を補うべく実験を行ったところ、クリーニング前放電
器8の放電パラメータの直流成分値が効果を非常に有し

るので転写領域外にトナー付着パターンを形成した場合
、直接放電電荷が作用する、しないにかへわらずクリー
ニング前放電器通過後の感光体のクリーニング条件を一
